Personally, I love to see a good looking PC component and a good looking PC configuration. Everyone perceive "good looking" differently, mostly for kids and teenagers it will be some flashy/over-the-top/gaming-in-your-face type of "good looking" design, something like this :
 

 
And maybe for some elder guys like myself will be something that is a bit more subtle and possibly refined. I personally love monochrome design with two colors max, I think it looks sharper, classy and way refined that all that ridiculous "gaming" design (e.g. Corsair TRAMP STAMP line etc.) but I love cases with window, love to see all that high-tech eye candy inside . Something like this in terms of monochromatic design (and this is THE MOST GAMERY EDGE LOOK FOR ME) :

For me, building computers is more than just having a computer that works. It's a hobby and an art to me, similar to how some guys look at cars. Internals come first, but once that baby purrs, it's time to shine 'er up. I don't have the funds (or balls) to really get into real modding (such as custom water cooling, cutting panels, etc.), but I *can* get into making sure that every last part in the case ties in seamlessly with everything around it. Matching colors, themes, and making sure that I don't have an awful clash of "muscle car" mixed with too much sleek, else it look like a hot mess. Just because you have a budget, doesn't mean you can't make things look decent, at least. Even things as simple as cable management and electrical tape to hide rainbow wires can make a world of difference if you have some patience.

I noticed that too. It might have to do with console audiences being a bit younger as they cannot always afford to buy a PC or have their parents afford one. Obviously not always the case as rude people can exist everywhere. Just my experience especially for Xbox 12yo COD babies.

My gf went through that when she was in school and I just never understood why people acted that way. We've speculated that most guys feel threatened and don't know how to act where as it should be like making a new friend and having a common interest.
I mean having a LAN with a bunch of friends is much more fun than exluding half of them because they're "gamer girls". The whole point of gaming (for me at least) is to bring people together to form friendships (and potentially relationships for some) and come together for the greater cause of killing a Raid boss or capturing strategic points.

Yeah, I've noticed that Linus makes everything look like it takes no time at all when in reality it takes many hours if not days on some projects. I'm looking at doing some custom work to my current system but I can't really have it out of action for such a long time. Paint drying time and such.

Well everyone should be in the kitchen. That's where the food is. NGL my PC is basically in the kitchen. (maybe I'll move it to my room soon).
But yeah for the actual sexism in the industry I'd probably say at this point it's more targeting males (I.E make a sexually appealing character in a game and you get blasted for "sexism").

I think it's a large stereotype that women are discriminated against/not wanted in the video game industry.
At this point in time I don't think there's much actual discrimination among devs but more focused on censoring their creations by claiming it's sexist.
A good example of this was the Mika (spelling?) buttslap thing that was in the streetfighter V beta which mysteriously disapeared after a bunch of people go pissed about it. (IDK the specifics really, just the basic run down of what happened)
Bottom line for me is, I don't care what sex you are, if you make good games and don't censor because the mob gets mad at you who gives a flying fuck.
