Queasy Tiger got a reaction from fredih in QLogic QLE2460 recognizs as Storage controller, not NIC. Need help.
Don't know if this helps at this point, but the QLE2460 is what's called a HBA (Host Bus Adapter) that connects to storage arrays and provides fibre channel access to them.
This is not the same as a NIC and cannot support an IP protocol.

Queasy Tiger got a reaction from Over_Confident in tips on how to cool down gpu?
Yeah, those temps should be fine.

I'll tell you what I do though.
I have set dates for maintenance and cleaning of my PC.
They are Monthly, every 6 months, and every 12 months.
Every month, I give my computer a light aesthetic cleaning on the intake grills, lighting, peripherals and other noticeable things, as well as making sure nothing is out of the ordinary and making sure everything is working the way it should. I also do a full virus scan with Norton Antivirus, and defragment all of my HDD's and SSD's manually.
Lastly, I move files to optimise space, clean up my SSD to preserve space, as well as doing a health check on my SSD to ensure the integrity of the flash storage.
Every 6 months, I do all of the above, but also:
I take my computer outside, use my handheld air blower (Kinda like a mini leaf blower)
Here it is on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-Portable-Dust-Leaf-Handheld-Air-Blower/291772674824?epid=1071305230&hash=item43ef01b308:g:7AEAAOSw-29ZRpu
To blow all of the dust out.  Making sure to get all of the the fans, the gpu, PSU, Radiator (Obviously if you have an air cooler for your CPU then you would do that instead) intake and exhaust ports, hard drive cage, etc.  Basically anywhere where there is dust, blow it away!  Sometimes it will be nescisary to remove certain parts to ensure a cleaner finish, but MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG ALL OF THE FANS BEFORE USING A BLOWER OR YOU MAY OVERSPIN THEM CAUSING POWER TO FEEDBACK INTO YOUR MOTHERBOARD, GRAPHICS CARD, OR POWER SUPPLY, WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY DAMAGE, OR DISTROY THEM, SO BE CAREFUL!
Every 12 months, I do all of the above, but also:
I remove the heatsink to my Graphics card and the waterblock for my CPU (Or cpu cooler), remove the old thermal paste and apply a new layer of high quality thermal paste to both.
I will revise my cable management, decide what is needed in terms of upgrades to storage, CPU, GPU, replacement case parts, RAM, etc, by again, doing benchmarks, analysing data usage, memory bandwidth, and lots of other factors.
Now obviously you don't HAVE to follow these tips, but they are there for you to take into consideration if you do so wish.
And if you really are worried about your GPU then I do have one other suggestion:
I would much prefer my card do be a bit loud than running too hot, so I have a custom fan curve set in MSI afterburner so that the card stays cooler than it would at it's standard fan curve.
And while it does of course run louder, the solution is to wear headphones, or to consider investing in some cheap sound dampening foam for the inside of your case.  So unless you are a serious surround sound speaker user, then I think you should be fine with something like that.

If you have any questions about the essay of a reply I have just put then please ask

I would trust that tbh, most likely cinebench and userbenchmark are reporting wrong for whatever reason.

Your scores seem pretty ok in cinebench for 4 ghz. 1350 ish is pretty normal. So I don't think anything is that out of the ordinary.

Your spec looks OK, I guessing you can take a look at the UEFI settings. AMD software can be buggy, I remember when users say that they can 1.7 GHz on their RX Flop 64, but it's a buggy AMD app.

Your QC and MC scores are lower by 10% and 2%, these are using the peak score, not average. If using average, only your QC score scored lowered.

I am guessing it's silicon lottery.

the PCB isn't touching the carpet anyways so it isn't much of an issue. but i wouldn't recommend it anyways.

Of course, I used my 980 Ti as a coaster for a few days. Hell, if I had a Team Red I'd use it as a tea warmer.

Also would just like to point out that if Zen 2 hits 5ghz like global foundries says then that would more than make up for the difference in single core performance. Clock for clock the difference in icp is basically nonexistent. So if it hits 5ghz and gets some boost in ipc then it will likely out do Intel's i7.

10% is not curbstomping. I mean even then that requires you to overclock the damn thing. I mean part of the issue is that most games are optimized for the architecture that Intel is based on but going forward that is going to change. Don't get me wrong, the 8700k is the best gpu out there for gaming but people like to exaggerate the performance difference way to much.

Not based on past performance, based on what they're working on now. The issues with 10nm are the ambitious transistor density and quality control issues. Though (this part is speculation) I would bet a healthy portion of sand bagging. (Intentionally slowing down)

Zen 2 is still a year away. Looking core to core a 8700k curb stomps a 2600x. Intel has a year to release a 8c 16t i7 af the same price as the 8700k, and lower the cost of the CPUs below it. That's the disparity between Intel and AMD right now. AMD would release Zen 2 in order to match Intel's 14nm offerings, just in time for Intel's 10nm chips that have had an extra year of refining (sandbagging) to hit shelves.

The absolute best chance AMD has is Intel not bothering with competitive pricing. Which still has AMD at a performance deficit.

Again, not doom and gloom. We've lived this with AMD and Nvidia for how long? AMD offers a welcomed alternative that usually offers much better value. Always a good thing.

AMD won't beat Intel. I don't like saying absolutes when talking about things that haven't happened yet, but this one I can safely say.

What I can't say is how AMD and Intel will compete in 5 years. Right now AMD is doing as AMD does and offering more slower cores to Intel's. That strategy might not work in even a year. So we could see a price war, or something else. But Intel will have the performance advantage for the foreseeable future.

Yes but so is the gap in performance between Intel and AMD. The single threaded performance gap is closing pretty quick and with Zen 2 it's like to be very different. Who knows AMD could catch up or even beat intel.

Ryzen are great CPUs. Spectacular value as all around CPUs. Just know as Nvidia releases it 11 series of cards the gap in gaming between AMD and Intel will grow as faster and faster cards release.

Sounds doom and gloom, but it's not. Knowing what you're getting into will help the second guesses.

All depends on what you play and how you play it. My 1700X bottlenecked my 1080ti af 1440 in some games. If I was using a 60hz monitor, wouldn't be the end of the world. But I use a 165hz display.

Ryzen is a fantastic workstation CPU, I'd argue the best. It's OK Ryzen isn't that good at gaming.

I have a 1080ti and play on a 240hz monitor, I know bottleneck. Good thing overwatch is very well optimized as I primarily play that.

Overwatch has no issues. Andromeda, Sniper Elite, Black Desert Online, War Thunder, and a bunch others don't do so hot.

Like I said I'm not picking on Ryzen, there's a reason I bought it. I'm truthful.

You are running a 960 not a 1080ti. Most cpus bottleneck the 1080ti. Plus to put it into perspective I get usually 100 fps in most games. Not bad tbh. In overwatch I get around 240 but if I over to 3.9 or got my memory to higher than 2663 it would increase
