  1. Well, that's a class action lawsuit waiting to happen... Just because they are dropping support for it, makes no sense to outright brick it. This planned obsolescence BS for hardware needs to stop.
  2. Not having proof of anything would do that. All she did was fling accusations around without giving anything substantial, riding the coattail of the Gamers Nexus controversy against LMG. Even assuming what happened to her was as bad as what she portrayed it out to be and not misinterpretation on her part... It's her words against theirs. Now that they've have completed an investigation by a third party that found nothing was out of the ordinary + the fact she has nothing(that we know of) = Case gets thrown out of court. It would be a waste of time and money. Just accusations on twitter. LMG took it seriously and did an investigation to be sure through a reputation third party. They found nothing substantial. If she keeps making these accusations without bringing anything new to the table other than "believe me!", they would sue her for defamation. Though I doubt Linus would go that far since he has said in the past he would rather not go that far. Even after getting scammed by a manufacturer on their screwdrivers.
  3. If it's just to get your pictures off it... You could get them from Linux, no ? Simply install the thing to access NTFS file system and you should be able to get them. I had that issue before, had to use command line to enable the Administrator account. Here's a Reddit post that explains how to do it. https://www.reddit.com/r/WindowsHelp/comments/zzqog6/comment/j2dbg2p/
  4. Meaning if she doubles down and keeps publishing stuff on twitter without any proof, they will sue. A third party investigator would be reviewing video surveillance evidence, emails, memos and the likes to find traces of any misconducts. Whether we agree with the findings or not, would just be our subjective opinions not based on any facts. All we have are the words of one person and of another. What we also have... Is the fact LMG employs a ton of people and so far only one has ever come out against the company after being delusioned by Boss Linus vs Camera Linus and the work culture. Meaning either they've changed for the better, or it was never a thing.
  5. I'd argue it's safer to buy on Amazon than elsewhere, simply due to being able to return nearly anything no questions asked without any restocking fees. As long as it is sold and shipped by Amazon, it should be quite safe.
  6. What. The. FUCK. $450 USD for a slim tablet laptop... Ridiculous. Looking it up, it seems the $450 version does come with a pen. There's a $350 version that does not and that one isn't called "with". Kind of misleading from that one source. Still, insanely expensive for what it is. Even more so.. when they have cheaper options at $280 for the previous model, that comes with the exact same pen. Just no dedicated AI button.
  7. I'm still paying my gas powered car off. I'm hoping in 5 years time there will be more chargers available. In my area, in walking distance, there's 2. And they are always used. If my job implemented chargers in the parking lot, I might consider one. But really... I'm in Canada. Our cold weather isn't great for current battery tech. A hybrid sounds a lot more attractive to me. Especially considering I drive less than 30km per day, 3 days a week. A hybrid with a battery range of 60 miles would be plenty for my needs in a week of work. With the added option of having gas in the winter if the battery just dies.
  8. Everything is subjective... Every gigabyte products I've encountered ended up failing one way or another. Just enough to be annoying without breaking outright. Like the fans on the GPU... The Wifi/Bluetooth on the motherboard... Seagate consumer hard drives have had poor reliability as far as personal experience goes. While Western Digital are super long lasting and hardly ever break... Someone else might have the complete opposite experience. I quite like MSI. Haven't been let down by any of their products, so far, that would require me to contact their support. Asus... I've had similar experience as others when it comes to RMA. Being asked to pay ridiculous sums of money, more than the price of a new board, for repair. And this was something like 14 years ago. I had horrible experience with AMD back in the past but still gave them a chance with Ryzen. Some issues at first that got ironed out as time went by. Only had good experience with Intel thus far. G.skill... Ended up on my shitlist and were probably the reason for my bad experience with AMD back in the Phenom days(2009). Their support somewhat tried to help but they kept repeating the same thing over and over even after I told them it didn't work. Logitech support has been legendary for me. Product doesn't work properly. Contact support. Be asked to destroy old product and show proof. Get sent a new one free of charge. Corsair PSUs haven't let me down. Neither have Seasonic's. Kingston SSDs are low tier garbage that I would never buy again.
  9. Use your phone and your data to use on your breaks. I would never use company laptop and wifi to access anything that isn't work related. They can see EVERYTHING you check. You're unlikely to get repercussions unless you check adult stuff, but they could still use it against you if you ever access it outside of your break time and they want to get rid of you.
  10. I had to do the Rufus method reinstall with Windows 11 to get a local account just to uninstall OneDrive. Because by default, Win11 shoves everything in OneDrive. Even in my User folder, the Document/Music/Picture folders would just be links to onedrive. If I deleted OneDrive, these links wouldn't just suddenly go away. So you go to save something, select your documents and.... it can't find the folder. Because it's a onedrive link. GREAT. So, local account, uninstall onedrive and THEN link my microsoft account. What a pain in the ass.
  11. May I introduce you to mod called... No More Hard-coded Keybinds (Better Controls Menu continued) https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/4008 I found that one by looking at the pcgamingwiki entry for this game. https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Cyberpunk_2077#Input Could be just what you need. Sure it sucks to need a mod to change something as basic as controls... Especially coming from CDPR, the makers of The Witcher video game franchise... But it is possible to some extent. Disclaimer : I have not tried the mod. I don't even have the game.
  12. Artifacting cannot be fixed if uninstalling the drivers for a fresh install doesn't work. Your GPU is faulty. Send it to RMA if it is still under warranty. There was no need to make a new thread basically asking for the same thing either.
  13. That would just make it even more tacky
  14. My interest in ever buying another EA title just keeps going down, somehow. Weird, huh.
  15. While the cops won't do squat, it is often needed to at least report the theft for the bank to do anything for you (at least in my country). Without doing so, it's like saying it wasn't really stolen. If you can't be bothered to get a police report by reporting a theft, did a theft even happen?
  16. Personally wouldn't pick either of them. Tempered glass side panels, other than looking pretty, offer nothing except downsides as far as cooling goes. But if I had to pick one... At least the corsair one doesn't make you buy a stupid addon if you want a vertical GPU. You only need the PCI-e extender.
  17. Nice of the US to finally get to building some high speed rails instead of dumb ideas like hyperloop.
  18. A Police Report could go a long way, to say it was stolen. Could get access to security camera and timestamp of when it was stolen. Get in touch with UPS Corporate as well. It certainly sucks, but THEY are the ones who messed up. A chargeback would be the last recourse you should take, as Newegg won't take kindly to you stealing from them when they provided the goods as demanded. It is not their fault if it was stolen once it got in the hands of the carrier. But they honestly should be able to help a little due to carrier insurance that they likely have.
  19. Can't imagine paying $700 USD to live in a tiny 4 foot tall "pod"...

    https://www.sfgate.com/tech/article/rent-bed-pods-downtown-techies-18388110.php

I'd sooner buy a used van like an old ford econoline and live in it. Probably would be cheaper.

They didnt even use Noctua fans. Good luck sleeping there 😂

do you guys literally not have any housing laws at all?

getting busted for speeding and spending the night in jail is probably cheaper and more comfortable...

  20. If I'm understanding you correctly... It doesn't display anything with the original HDMI port/cable but when you switch to the port/cable of your main monitor, it works? That could indicate either the port or the cable you're using for the tablet is faulty for sure. Even more so if it "green screened" on you. To be sure, in Windows, you did Extend / Duplicate the display, correct? If it is set to only display on the main monitor, your tablet will obviously stay dark. Pressing the Windows Key + P on the keyboard should bring up the Projection menu. Do make sure it is not set to "PC screen only". Overall, kind of hard to diagnose with the information given thus far. For now, I'm thinking it is either a Cable issue or a Windows issue. Try connecting your main monitor to the same port using the same HDMI cable as the tablet, to see if that monitor works with that cable and port.
  21. This looks dumb, but I'm guessing this is aimed at streamers who want to do IRL content out and about? Instead of needing a bulky "streaming backpack".
  22. They were indeed 173 hours late on the 25th of august
  23. When Windows Update fails to work... There's not a lot to do. You will find guides online on how to clear the cache and what not. But in my experience, it never worked to fix the actual problem. Even SFC, DISM or whatever else to repair Windows typically doesn't work either. Save yourself the headaches, you might indeed be better off reinstalling windows. Either by taking the latest ISO and reinstalling on top of your current install without losing anything or by doing a fresh install. Something likely got corrupted along the way, which prevents it from working properly.

Guys can you believe I'm leveling up by posting…

They really do mean nothing and the difficulty curve spikes up in a ridiculous manner after Mentor. So much so it's not even worth trying.
  25. Well damn, we might actually see alternatives to Lithium batteries some time soon...

I 100% figured it was just going to be vaporware. Especially when considering all these fancy battery tech we had been seeing in the news for the past, what, 15 years? And none of them ever made it to market.

    https://newatlas.com/energy/natron-sodium-ion-battery-production-startt/

Charges/discharge 10x faster than lithium and doesn't burst into flames... But holds less charge. Will be interesting to see where this ends up in a few years after they tweak the capacity per kg a bit.

(might be tech news worthy if someone wants to make a thread)

Will get to it, just got up a bit ago. 😝

Edit: still not super impressed. The longevity is certainly better than even Li-Fe, but charge/discharge rates appear to only be about on par. (Keep in mind Lithium Iron Phosphate already boasts dramatically better charge/discharge rates than Li Ion and LiPo)

As the article mentions, stationary applications are probably going to play to the strengths of this tech, probably displacing home battery backups, but is unlikely to displace lithium tech in EVs.

If the tech is cheap though, then I’ll be a lot more interested, particularly in areas that frequently get power shutoffs during fire season. Though until we see products hit the market, it remains to be seen.

Lithium Iron Phosphate cells in production (ie, stuff that’s actually in use) also hits somewhere between 90-160 Wh/Kg, while this Sodium tech appears to currently hit 70-160 Wh/Kg, again, not currently commercially available. I’d definitely be pleased if commercial projects can hit the higher ranges though.

I will continue to wait for the 2nd or 3rd gen of solid-state batteries before I get hyped for new battery tech.
