I keep meaning to overclock, I really do want to rebeat your cinebench score but I am always tired when I get home and I often find myself in more of a mood to play games rather than stare at my awful blue bios screen

    Apple pros:
iOS is better in terms of built in features (e.g. iMessage, FaceTime, App Store, AirDrop)
Better software integration (as Apple only make the software for their own brand whereas Android is made for dozens of brands)
Their phones age better (depends whether planned obsolescence kicks in though)

    Apple cons:
Everything is tied into the Apple ecosystem
I've found their devices to be more fragile than Android phones (this is a personal experience though so don't be 100% on this)
    Their phones are overpriced

    Android pros:
    More devices to choose from
    Better price to performance
Quicker access to new features (in screen fingerprint scanner, multiple cameras etc.)
You can get phones that perform like flagship phones for a more budget friendly price (e.g. OnePlus 6/6T, Pocophone F1)

    Android cons:
With Samsung phones the battery degrades quicker
You can brick your phone if you screw up a mod

Sorry for the late reply, I was afk for a bit lol

Ok so after a wait that is way too long. Here are the much anticipated results of folding month!!!

Before we get into bragging rights I just wanted to thank all of you for participating. As I have mentioned many times this was by far and away a much bigger turnout than I think anyone expected. And as just us here as part of the event, not event including the rest of the LTT team which was also folding at a killer rate. We earned almost 2.9 billion (yes BILLION!) points and completed 76003 work units! and because of all of that we were able to climb the team back to #12 overall which I haven't seen since I started folding years ago! I also want to give an even bigger shout out to @Ben Quigley and @Gorgon Who not only volunteered themselves to help when it came to stat tracking and everything but essentially stepped up way beyond that to basically take over and not only provide all of you with daily updates and troubleshooting help but went way beyond that to simplify the process of everything that needed to be done in the background. Trust me they put in some hard hours and deserve as much recognition as possible. All I had was an idea to fold for a month and the two of them really stepped up to make this as good as it was so be sure to thank them where ever you can.

Now into some of the more juicy stuff that I know you have all been waiting for...

When it comes to points production. There really aren't any surprises in who the top three are. They might have traded blows a few times but coming into the last week or so it was fairly set in stone who was going to take the podium here.

In 1st place with a massive 249,018,046 points (to put that in perspective most teams don't fold that in a month) is the king himself, your royal highness @King Poet!!!

In the next two slots on the points podium you will find two people that before this month weren't even folding.

In 2nd with 225,872,887 points we have @Tomerrs which is even more impressive when you consider that he was only folding for 28 out of the 30 days in the month (what would happen if he was folding the extra 2 days we wont know until next folding month...)

And in 3rd with 211,812,417 points we have @jakkuh_t who as we know was using hardware barrowed from LMG but just as encouragement for the rest of you next time there is nothing wrong with that. Just don't get fired or break the law and we don't have a problem with anyone's hardware you fold with.

Now for the podium for most Work Units. Believe it or not this is actually different since work units are dependent on the hardware used its possible to get a bunch of small work units and crank them out really fast for less points. NACL folding is probably the easiest way of doing this but in the end its all work done.

In 1st with a seemingly excessive count of 4181 work units we have @givingtnt my guess is that a lot of NACL and CPU folding went into this one because that is over 1000 higher than either of the other two spots on our podium for this one.

    In 2nd with 2978 WU's is @Ishimuro

And because we cant seem to get rid of him @King Poet takes 3rd with 2788WU's likely because of having so many different slots folding all at once.

And our last catagory is one that is a bit more unusual compared to the other two considering how many of you here are new to folding but it is most improved. Basically whoever climbed their way highest in the ranks over the course of the competition. The way we estimated this (since some many of you were brand new to folding let alone the LTT team.) was by assigning everyone who wasn't on the team on the 1st an initial rank of 11000 since at the time the team had roughly that many members. And here are your results.

In 1st is no surprise considering he came in second overall is @Tomerrs who climbed 10970 ranks on team LTT. The only surprise here is that he wasn't already folding for us. Good to know we now have another powerhouse on our team from now on!!!

2nd is another one to expect with @jakkuh_t who climbed 10967 ranks on the team. To be expected with the power we all know he had access too. Hopefully next time we can get more of the LMG office involved so that there might be a battle for who gets to use what hardware.

And in 3rd by only one spot is @_Rlocke who came in just under 2nd with 10966. Didn't think that battle was going to come so close highly impressive.

And finally I want to do another round of thankyou's to the rest of the people who made this happen. Obviously @Ben Quigley and @Gorgon again for the amazing work they did. (really cant emphasize enough how much they made this happen). Also to @Imbellis @seoz and @Ryois who helped out in the chaos of the first week stat tracking. Also to @Whiskers and @Ryan_Vickers who helped come up with the badges and make that happen for all of you. And also to @James for getting us on the WAN show to get the word out and @jakkuh_t for getting the word out even further with the giveaway that LMG did for the folding community. And last but definitely not least want to thank the rest of you for being a part of this team I know we say it as a folding community but this proved it to be more true than ever it really does take each one of you to make this team what it is and to have brought us back to 12th overall in the world for folding teams and 3rd for the month in production so again thanks to each and every one of you with out each of you no matter how small your contribution this team wouldn't be whole.

Now the part that I know you have all been waiting for here is a link to the results sheets that we have been keeping the whole time so that you can all nerd out over the numbers. I may do some editing over time to make things look nicer but this is the final product. If you find an issue in it for some reason pm myself and copy @Ben Quigley and @Gorgon and we will address you concern.

The following is the list of people who qualified for the badges.

Thank you all again for participating and we definitely hope to see you all in the future events that we do with both folding and Boinc if you are interested.

Now that the Folding Month is nearing its end and our thoughts are turning towards cleaning our dust filters and getting back to playing more games I hope that some of you participants will consider continuing to donate some of your idle computing power to Folding@Home.

I know I am looking forward to profiling my new video card and reducing the heat and noise in my basement.

If you, like me, have been running your systems full-tilt all month then you may not be aware that the normal way most people who fold full-time do so is at a reduced level to keep the noise, heat and electrical bills in reason!

GPUs all have a non-linear efficiency curve. They are typically 80% as efficient at their lowest power setting as their highest. As you push the card harder it requires increasingly higher amounts of power for the same increase in performance.

What I typically do when folding is to run my cards at only 10 or 20 watts above the minimum power level setting. This results in lower heat and noise and potentially less wear on the GPU fans as they can operate at a much lower speed. The interesting part is that though the GPU uses about 40% less power I only see a 15 to 20% reduction in the all-important Points-per-Day (PPD).

So instead of running the Power Slider all the way to the right in after-burner try the other end of the scale.

For Those CPU folding if you have a processor will lots of threads you can reduce your output simply by reducing the number of cores used for folding.

    Folks,

Please remember that the LTT Official Folding Month Competition ends at 00:00GMT today which is in North America:
20:00 AST 19:00 EST 18:00 CST 17:00 MST 16:00 PST The final results will be calculated based on the 00:00GMT team flat-file from Stanford which, in turn, is generated about 23:45GMT based on their most current updates from the project servers which can take a while to update.

Over all, the number of points and work units processed should be similar to those shown on Extreme Overclocking but for the competition the points and work units will be based on the difference between the Nov 1st, 2018 and Dec 1, 2018 00:00GMT flat-files from Stanford.

    Keep on Folding

Just use a LGA1366 system, like a L5630 which is around $6 per CPU on ebay. Can go either single socket or dual socket then mount as many GPUs as you can, using PCIe extension cables or what ever you like.

My Xeon X5690 is finally in the U.S. Took forever for it to get here from China. Hope to have it in a few days. Funny, I just got upgraded my Wife from a Ryzen 3 to a Ryzen 1700. The Xeon X5670 actually does well against it.

Or get an X58 board for $100-150 and a Xeon X5675 for $30, then OC that sucker to 4.5Ghz and it'll compete with an R5 1600 for a lower price, and it uses DDR3. Some X58 boards even have USB 3.0 and such built in, I have an MSI workstation board that does. My ASUS Rampage III Formula doesn't, but that's easy to fix with a PCIe USB 3.0 card, but I don't really transfer much data over USB so I haven't bothered.

I think I would be really neat and kind of fun to be able to have our FAH activity listed on our profile, maybe somewhere near where the badges are. This display could be enabled in the profile settings if a particular person wanted to share their information. I think it would be a fun way for people who like to fold to stay motivated.
