SwervinPersian reacted to Technous285 in A good brand for a dual monitor VESA mount/arm
I'm personally using one of Aavara's AV-DS610 stands for upto 6x 24"-32" monitors in a 3x2 arrangement (3-wide, 2-tall. $650 AUD plus S&H), but they also have stands for 2x1, 3x1 & 2x2 arrangements in 15"-24" & 24"-32" types (the stands for sub-24" monitors have 75x75mm/100x100mm VESA mounting brackets, but the stands for 24-32" monitors have brackets for 200x100mm VESA mounting which is more common on larger screens and the larger brackets also have the 100x100mm & 75x75mm mounting holes in them too).

A 2x1 24"-32" Aavara stand like the DS210 does sell for around $230 AUD plus S&H though, which is the cost of quality (and being an Australian).

I got the mg279q and it is great, I do not see any jitters or stutters that g-sync supposedly fixes (but that could be me). As I will be getting a second identical monitor I opted for the cheaper version to save me some bucks in the future. I play games like BF1 & PUBG btw.
But for 200-300 extra bucks you get a more ROG themed style, a little thinner bezels and the G-sync/3D vision.

    Both are dope af

The whole point of raid is to leverage multiple drives for an increase in speed or reliability. If there was a way to increase the speed of a single drive, manufacturers would be doing it for you.

well when you go to "my computer" does it show two separate drives or does it show one drive

ex. does it show two 250gb drives or does it show one 500gb drive

It doesn't. It can work with any number of drives 2 or more.

Don't raid 0 SSDs please, while the speed may seem like it's worth it, there is 0 fucking reliability - one of those drives fails and both lose data.

SwervinPersian got a reaction from typographie in what is a cpu upgrade from i5 6600k
I had the same dilemma when I was deciding on what CPU to purchase, i5 7600K or i7 7700K. I opted with the i5 as I saw the extra 100$ or 100 euros was not worth the little fps bump it gave. Yes everybody loves more fps, but the i5 offers so much and is overclockable (if you have the necessarcy cooling, I have the x62 kraken so I should be fine).

In short, I have my i5 7600k and 1070 FE for a month now and have been using it on a 1440p 144hz 17 inch monitor and have seen no need to upgrade. I am very shocked you feel that way

What is your current CPU not providing you that a new CPU would?

You have an unlocked i5 that is only one generation old, apparently running stably while overclocked fairly well.

Is spending $300+ worth an extra few fps that you more than likely won't notice? If you're doing more than gaming, then sure, more cores/threads may be beneficial. If all you need from the system is gaming performance, I personally don't see the value in upgrading the CPU for an extra 3-5% performance. I'd turn down settings loooong before I'd drop cash on a new CPU.

Definitely go for a quad core (i5) if you can afford it,
maybe wait for Ryzen though. There seem to be plenty of great
budged options in store (4 cores, 8 threads, overclockable cpu for 175$ etc.)
    other then that, 8-16gb ram, a budged mobo, a rx 480/gtx1060, a 500w bronze psu and a 256gb ssd.

    That should total around 600$

SwervinPersian got a reaction from Walt in Hobby Build
So I just finished my first custom build (I attached a pic), this was a super awesome experience from researching to picking your parts to putting it all together. That moment when I turned it on for the first time and saw it all come to life was priceless
Really enjoyed this forum, as it answered a lot of questions and gave me good insight on products! Shout out to Linus and all you enthousiasts!

Now along slowly improving my rig I want to build a crappy pc as a hobby build, but I want to know what is the best way to approach this? Any parts yall recommend?
I will not be having the astronimical budget as my first rig so I want to use 2nd hand parts. I think like around €50.
I'd also love to maybe do some mods to make it look 'less crappy'.

I was thinking of first starting to get parts for free on the equivalent of Craigslist here in NL, and depending on what I get move on from there?

    Thanks in advance

I got the FE because I like the GPU exhaust being blown out the case, that way the heat from the card doesn't get sucked through my CPU's radiator.

I'd suggest that the best way to start a "hobby" build would be to buy one of the many used, cheap i5 business computers with a mini-tower (not slimline) case. Just make sure it has a PCIe x16 graphics card slot.
You can then do things like adding a a cheap graphics card such as a GTX-1050 or RX 460, upgrading the RAM, upgrading the power supply, etc.

I got the CS550M, pretty much same thing. This also came with black cables but the 24pin header was unfortunately this multicolour, it just looks out of place.

What all of these guys have said above is completely right, but for me aesthetics is also just as important.
If you are planning on having a window panel to see all your hardware try to buy parts that won't look like trash all together. Black&Red is like the clichè colourway but there are endless combos you can do that look great and make it all worth it in the end.
I finished my first build today and was gassed on the final result! But like the 24pin of my PSU was this multicolour cable which does not look clean, I reccomend to buy a fully modular PSU & get sleeved cables! I'm ordering mine right now
Keep in mind not to go ham with your first build though, there is always room for improvement! No need to have everything rgb or elite brand, you can do that step by step.

SwervinPersian reacted to komar in Used parts build help
First you should try your local sites for selling stuff. International shipping for parts that are so cheap may cost even double than the part itself so its not worth paying it at all + risking getting bad parts. And last i would say  - living next to you in Bulgaria I know and understand your struggle. In general its almost the same for me here but you can find very good deals in our olx.bg and bazar.bg (i got q6600 for 27 leva - 14 euro).
P.S. If you want to start a gaming Youtube channel i highly advise you - just dont start at all with this budget. Pure and simple its a money hole.... If this is the only reason for the upgrade just dont do it at all and save ur money - maybe after half or a whole year when you can aford good pc and good peripheral
