1070 sli or 1080

Go to solution Solved by MCCOPRA,

been through the same deal - sli means problems

what is your mobo, what is your cpu, what monitor you will run, what resolution ???

- 1080 sli, 1080 ti sli or titan xp sli maybe if you want 4k 60fps+ for couple years in supported titles not all games.

i have run 1070 sli and it proved to be more problem than gain so sold them and got myself a 1080 and ryzen 1700 and asus b350a matx board in the remaining money :P

What shall i do,

i have a 1070 in my rig now but shall i buy another 1070, or sell my 1070 and buy a 1080

thanks

I'd sell the 1070 and buy a gtx 1080 ti when its released soon.

Yea, but dont sell it straight away, have a look at ebays (or what ever you use) completed listings and see how much their selling for. Then see how much the GTX 1080ti costs and if you wont get enough from selling your 1070 you can save up a little bit. Dont get another 1070 though, in most games, SLI dosent work or dosent give you a performance boost.

1080 or rethink your life. if your at 1080p or even 1440p, a 1070 is more then enough. u would need a 1080 for 4k or higher. all in all, you probably should have decided before buying the first 1070

Instead of buying the 1080 when it came out I bought a second 980 ti.  It was the worst purchase I have done.  There are so many games now where sli is not supported at all.  Then you can get buggy drivers and weird issues like half frame rates you have to figure out.  The second Gpu was turned off more times it was in use and was just wasted.

My suggestion sell the 1070 and buy best card you can.  Or just stick it out with the 1070. It all depends what resolution you want to play on anyway.  If you at 1080p just keep a single 1070.

Did you get the Ryzen CPU yet?  If so, how does the 1080 run with it? Any noticeable bottlenecks?
