Yup. Like it or not, integrity in journalism doesn't exclude a "journalist" (last time I checked he doesn't have a degree, therefore the quotes) reaching out to the involved party. That's the worst part of it all: he's being called once again a "Tech Jesus" but integrity is far from how he behaved. Once again, Billet Labs' situation is bad as it is, but calling out mistakes in videos charts, that ultimately don't change the review outcome (except for 2 notable exception, that are the C2077 result with the 4090 and the Noctua coolers), is some kind of childish attack on the notes of "hey look, our videos are better and we have less people than you".
90K subscribers more on their YT channel, 2 videos in 2 days totaling 6 million views, both in their top 10 in terms of views, their patreon gaining +250 subs in just a couple of days (with revenue going up by 9% as shown https://graphtreon.com/creator/gamersnexus), this ain't integrity talking. This is a low blow because he (and HUB) got offended by Tim's comment regarding their methodology for reviews.

I just recently joined the forums (fantastic timing, right?) and I understand that this video has been talked to death.  My day-job is very much connected to large companies and organizations which are very effective at spinning bad publicity or burying tough headlines (the day-job is in engineering, not my ministerial work as the screen name implies).  What LMG put out with this video was solid, IMHO.  I understand that many viewers may have emotionally wanted to see something different, but I believe they did an effective job of providing as must information and ownership as possible without succumbing to public self-flagellation.

Were there random jokes?  Yes, but sometimes you need something to cut the dry explanations to maintain viewer retention.  Was their self-promotion?  I mean, not really.  I've seen some individual criticize the random "LTTStore.com" jokes, but those came across more as jokes than promotion.  Are there nuances to the situation which could have been addressed?  Sure, but nuance is... well... it's nuanced and requires a lot of individual attention.  They hit the broad strokes and that's what you want to see.  They provided explanation without letting that explanation convert into an excuse.  That's a hard balance, and some will see any form of explanation as an excuse, but I think they struck it.

The comment I made on their YouTube video was "Now the ball is in their court".  They've said they are going to revamp how they do things, re-evaluate their processes, and learn from this.  No amount of pontification or editorializing from the outside world is going to change the fact that the onus is now on them to prove their promises mean something.

What I believe they did that was quite brilliant was publicly state that they were stepping back for a full week.  I hope they do.  It would be really awesome if "big tech news" broke and they were able to demonstrate restraint to prove they mean business by NOT uploading a new vid.  The momentum of this event is clearly being driven by drama and a desire to air every grievance against LMG by proxy of the current headlines.  I am not saying that I don't think LMG has been party to some terrible things... it sounds like there may be a few skeletons to evict from their closets... but it's important for all of us to recognize that the driving forces between the emotion and angst seen in the social space is largely due to knee-jerk reactions and an audience desire to see results.

Sometimes you don't get what you want; sometimes we have to wait and see if LMG really means what they say.  I think it's hyperbole to suggest that they are "done for" or that GN has somehow destroyed LMG.  When you step back and look at what LMG did, it was unethical and some of the other allegations floating around are mortifying, but the reality is that none of this is career-ending for a multi-million dollar media group.  The question isn't whether they survive or not; it's whether they survive with their soul in-tact.

Thanks for the concern everyone. We are still in recovery mode over here and working with YouTube to get everything restored. Will hopefully have a video (or at least an update on WAN Show) to share with you all ASAP, but we want to make sure we get the details right since smaller channels may rely on our experience to help harden their own security.

Hans, you don't need to panic nor buy the VPN now. I am based in Austria, and i do user PIA as my VPN Provider. But not for panic reasons, just for privacy and security reasons. In my opion everyone should use a VPN - here in Austria we got something called "Vorratsdatenspeicherung" which means the provider has to store your information for at least 6 months, if i am still correctly informed.

BadKitten reacted to Spotty in The Verge: How we built a copyright strike
    Source: https://twitter.com/bitwitkyle/status/1095578571244879872

Remember when The Verge tried to build a computer and it went horribly, horribly wrong? Vox Media, parent company of The Verge, have issued a copyright strike against popular youtuber Kyle AKA "Bitwit" for the video he uploaded titled "Lyle reacts to The Verge's PC Build Video". Kyle took to twitter to share the news of the copyright strike, and warning other youtubers that also criticised The Verge's build guide that they may be next in the sights of Vox Media. The copyright takedown request removed the video from Bitwits channel, and also issued his channel with almost 1.4million subscribers a Copyright Strike which works on a 3 strikes and you're out system with the entire creators channel being removed from Youtube if 3 copyright strikes are issued to a channel within a period 3 months.

For those unaware, in September 2018 The Verge published a video guide to youtube showing how to build a computer along with an accompanying written article.
There was a fundamental lack of knowledge from those involved in the video, and the video contained many factual errors including being unable to name certain hardware, recommending incorrect tools for the job, incorrect installation methods, missing screws, and plenty more blatant mistakes. Anyone who followed the advice given in the build would be at risk of damaging their hardware or the system not working. This lead to a response from other popular youtubers in the tech community to condemn or parody the build video published by The Verge, including amongst others the aforementioned reaction video by "Lyle", a tech-illiterate character created by Kyle, published on the Bitwit youtube channel.

This copyright strike action follows a series of incidents recently where Youtube's copyright protection system has been abused by people either copyright striking videos that criticise them, or illegitimately copyright striking videos purely for financial gain. Other notable occurrences of copyright strikes being issued against youtubers include PewDiePie being copyright striked because a twitch streamer took offence to him calling her a "thot", a YouTuber being extorted for money through bogus copyright strikes, a youtuber whos video was copyright striked for using his own song, and plenty more.

This has lead to a lot of discussion recently that Youtube's copyright protection system is broken and open to abuse with illegitimate copyright claims and takedown requests which are difficult for the content creators to fight against.

BadKitten reacted to FluxIncapacitator in Scratch Build - Steampunk Mineral Oil Server
    Where to start?

    Preamble
So I saw Linus' Mineral Oil Build Log when it came out and I thought it was amazing. When it came to doing my A2 Project for Graphics (UK) I was obsessed with Mineral Oil PC's. The only Problem being, I was a Graphics student not a Resistant Materials student. So without any thought on the matter I switched to fulfill my stupid fantasy of making a Mineral Oil PC from scratch. I have plenty of CNC experience but no wood or metal working skills to speak of. I have built a couple of PC's before which were quite high end, but have never water cooled let alone oil cooled.

    Concept
I Initially wanted to copy the Puget Systems build idea as it would literally just involve me Laser Cutting and gluing Acrylic panels. This idea was superseded by imagination and ambition which got the better of me. I decided the easiest way to achieve a high grade in a subject I have not much experience in was to create a circular design... Anyway its use is as a media server for my Dad and the design must fit in with his house (Hardwood was everywhere). Airflow for the Rads is one 120mm outtake fan with a vent on the back, and a 5mm gap in the lid for the difference in air pressure to draw air in. I was banking on the system being low power enough for the 400l/h pump and thick rad to keep the oil cool. I know the spec isn't really server focused at all but I had to next to no funds to build this after buying materials.

    Spec List

I know the spec isn't really server focused at all but I had to next to no funds to build this after buying materials. I had a Budget of £400, which I found later was not nearly enough as Mineral Oil is sooooo expenisve. I persuaded my school to give me a grant of £100 for the oil. The rest of the money was spent on the spec:

    - Phenom x4 965
    - MSI Twin Frozr3 R7850
    - 960GM-VGS3 FX
    - 128gb Non branded SSD
    - 1Tb HDD
    -  120mm Magicool Rad
    -  Phobya 220 12v Pump
    - Blu Ray Slim drive
    - Windows 7 64bit
    - 8Gb DDR3
    - 450W CoolerMaster PSU (I think I removed the sticker so can't quite remember now)

    Materials
The only thing I had to buy pre-made was the acrylic tube for £60. The wood was sourced locally and is an eclectic mix of Hardwoods. I spent £30 on copper piping and fittings. Another £25 was spent on switches and wires. I had to perfectly laser cut a circular disc to fit perfectly inside the tube and then glue it in place. I also laser cut the hanging piece of acrylic and bend it to a right angle to mount everything. The upper section was Laminated together from wooden rings I cut out from the hardwood. I had a fair amount of help to build this due to my inexperience.

    Finale
Well unfortunately not quite. I started the build in Jan 2016 after much planning. "Finished" in May 2016. I say finished because it was only finished to the level of allowing me to get a grade. Unfortunately the GPU artifacts horrendously after installing the drivers. After Messing about for hours before the deadline I found out the problem is the PCIe connection. I don't know whether or not the Motherboard or GPU is broken as wiggling the card around in its slot fixes it incredibly briefly. This is probably my fault as the I/O shield had to be scrapped to finish the build in time and as such the card is zip tied to the wood to stop it wobbling. Because the GPU is broken I didnt put the oil so I also don't know if the pump system works annoyingly. I believe this is what you call a 50ft mod. I am incredibly proud of how the PC turned out but when you look inside at the mounting system you can tell the rush and manic solutions I had to find to finish in time.

    Aftermath
For those wondering my practical grade was a B due to the interior being very rushed, but my overall grade was an A. I have just got the computer back and intend on finishing it but just need to save up for a GPU and fix some fittings and pray to god the oil hasn't gone off or something. As well as the pump working and being fast enough to keep everything cool with only 1x 120mm rad (although it is very thick). I did test the tube for leaks with water, but I am slighlty worried about oil dissolving the glue or heating up with the system and leaking somehow (When i eventually put it in). Pictures below of water test, and system booted into a BIOS. So yeah hopefully I can fully finish it soon!

This Build has morphed (aka Changed a few times since I started) into Something that's beyond Overkill.  If this was a Pure gaming Machine & had no consoles I might have done something like Quad Titan X or 1080. I have XB1, PS4 and a PC loaded with a 1080(Theirs a Small build Log for it on the site).

Not sure if I would ever touch Xeon & have no experience with those chips. Can't really comment if it would be worth using Xeno on a build like this or not.

My daily driver PC is dated from 2009 (Right when Windows 7 was released). It was time to build a new PC for daily usage, Since I needed a PC for faster video rendering(Not sure on Software I will use yet for my rendering yet).

Those two 560 are for side B, I have room for another two 560 on Side A. I'm just waiting to see if I need two more or not. I do have enough credit at PPCS to buy them without spending anything extra. I might grab two more MP rads or maybe try their new GTR line.

Theirs no longer any pedestal with this build since I changed cases and THW10 does not support pedestals (Wasn't enough demand for it). I could get TH10A. Then I would lose the second Flexbay and forced to 120 Fans. I'm trying to stick with 140 to keep the noise down.

Thanks, I thought some would like to see the progress of my build as it goes on. Waiting on parts is the only thing killing this thread due to Case-Labs very long wait time (9 to 10 Weeks).
