Tommy got a reaction from Big-Al in Computer won't turn on with new RAM
I needed to upgrade my RAM, so I bought two HyperX 8GB sticks. The specs are: 1866MHz @1.5v. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P

This shouldn't cause any issue with compatibility as it lists compatibility of up to 32GB, 1866Mhz and 1.5v. Yet anytime I attempt to turn on my computer with the new sticks installed, the fans spin up for about 3-5 seconds then the system turns off, it keeps trying to turn on after that but the same thing - fans then turns off. It works completely fine with the old RAM.

I've tried using different slots, using 1 stick at a time and gone through the BIOS but nothing seems to work, the same issue keeps occuring.

Again, I don't think this is compatibility issues, as none of the specs of the RAM are not listed on the Gigabyte site. My main opinion is that the BIOS settings are not correct, I have briefly gone through it, but nothing looked like it would cause these issues, but I am by no means experienced when using the BIOS. The other option is the sticks are dead, this doesn't seem likely as the odds of both being DOA seems pretty low.

Any help would be great, thanks.

Thank you so much! Putting the frequency down to 1600 has worked and now it boots with no issues!

That worked! I think there was something wrong with the GPD table (?), but either way, I managed to fix it in PartedMagic Live USB, then successfully clone the current drive onto it using the Samsung software! Still going to be a bit wary of it, but for now, it seems all good.

    Thank you so much!

exact same ram, cpu and mobo as you and you're not the only one with this problem. i had to set my ram to 1600 in order for it to boot, put it up to 1866 and it doesnt boot  i think its ram issue since it doesnt support XMP and it doesnt come up with XMP option.

tried my brother's dominator plats and XMP option was there but non existent on the hyperx fury.

The preset which gives you a bit of a V-shape (or make one custom). That's probably the sound signature your old headset had.
I usually don't touch EQ, as I like flat response. But hey, to each his own.

One thing I would like to point out, it that
    1) Scan never said anything too out of the ordinary
    2) Some of those guys were mutual friends of Facebook, so it could very easily be a matter of friends sticking up for another
    3) Their support is normally AMAZING and some of the most helpful I have found.

I think this guy was looking for an argument, annoyed that his part is broken, then for whatever reason waited 3 months to RMA it.

Tommy reacted to Jackbe in Why I think 120FPS is bullsh**
Then human eye can see way over 30 FPS. 24 FPS is the point where the human eye starts to see things as a video instead of pictures in a sequence. The human eye does not see in frames. FPS is just how quickly monitors show images. Anything over 24 FPS is a video to a human.

Do you genuinely think that monitors over 30Hz would exist if the human eye could not see over that!? I can tell the difference between 120FPS, 60FPS and 30PFS.

Maybe you should fix your eyes or something because if you can't tell the difference between 30Hz and 60Hz, your eyes are very, very broken.
