FPS-Russia reacted to Prysin in Zen is faster than Broadwell-E clock for clock
all their previous top end CPUs has been 1000+ USD
Athlon 2, Phenom II x6 "T" and FX 9590.
New opterons go for a couple of thousands.

FPS-Russia reacted to Bhav in Quad Core CPU's are slowly becoming like the Dual Core?
Look, hyperthreading DOES bridge the gap between having more actual physical cores. It may not be as good as having 8 actual cores, but its still better than 4 cores without HT.
Lots of games and software are now finally beginning to make use of HT and more than 4 cores. The HT is a good gambit to cover the requirement for more than 4 'threads'.
In any case, if you want more cores, the 5820k is a bargain for a 6 core Intel chip. I still dont see the reason why I would want to build around a 6700k, when a 5820k and mid range X99 board can be had for only a slight bit more.

FPS-Russia got a reaction from SpaceGhostC2C in Zen is faster than Broadwell-E clock for clock
After all the hate in this thread if ZEN is good i think i will sell my Broadwell-E PC and buy ZEN, i am so tired of the fanboy BS and ignorant low intelligence ramblings about AMD.
I HATED FX because it was crap, ZEN comes out looking like a shiny clean gold coin vs Broadwell-E which is impressive and all the fantard fuckers get all lop sided like they need that intel stick in their ass every night.
/rant
Wow my English was good for that rant, i may do more, rate comment and subscribe.

No - at least, not specifically. Zen is the overall architecture of the CPU lineup. Just like Intel, AMD uses the same architecture for multiple product series, including Servers. Xeons, for example, still use Haswell or Skylake, etc, as their architecture (Though often one is ahead of the other, generation wise).
That's not explicitly correct either. Zen WILL have both Desktop and Server chips.
We know because AMD has been talking Zen for ages, and they're going to be releasing a 32c/64t beast Opteron chip (though the ETA on that is unknown).
Did you look at the benchmarks? You do understand it's an IPC test, right? The clock rate of a CPU doesn't matter during an IPC test, since they're not testing total performance or maximum clockrate, etc. IPC is the same regardless of the clockrate.
Look, Zen might suck - this is true. It might also be capped at a super low clockrate. We simply have no idea. But you cannot call a IPC test "handicapped" because both CPU's were downclocked.
Zen will have a server chip. People don't seem to understand (or they forget) that Zen is a whole architecture. This thread and that benchmark was for an 8c/16t chip, but there will be many different chips, with different configs and for different markets.
We can guess fairly easily that the 8c/16t chip will end up with 2 variants. An AM4 Enthusiast Desktop chip (i7-E Broadwell competitor), and an Opteron chip (Xeon competitor). They'll also have smaller chips that compete with Mainstream Desktop (i3-thru-i7nonE) as well.

I used an old Intel Stock heatsink for a cupholder and especially as a cooler for my hot tea lol.

Sometimes when coffee is too hot I put a bunch of forks on it and use the spikes as cooling fins. Shove it in the freezer for a minute.

Those numbers are crazy, so most people here will be skeptical (including me). If the clock on that GPU is real that is awesome though.

Btw, get the new bios from Powercolor that allows for higher power limit.

LOL, there's no way you got 1570 on air. 1400 is good though

Marginally better. Negligibly, I'd even say. I'd trade that any day for a higher-end chipset, which X99 is when compared to a Z170, but also for a 30%+ faster CPU across all cores.

I have three coasters which are pieces of PCB that I cut to shape and filed down. Also have an Intel stock cooler as a flower pot stand.

IPC benchmarks are usually done @ 3Ghz.
Nothing unusual. 3Ghz isn't Zens clockspeed either.

I like this thread, kind of reminds me why I walked away from the IT industry and have spent the last 9 years assembling welders and wiring looms

Kinda AMD's fault for marketing them as 8-cores though.
