Thank you for answering, I found out what the issue was when I was running memtest and got 10000+ errors, it was the xmp profile causing the bluescreens.

I'd get the ASUS VP279Q as it is cheaper and if your dad isn't doing much gaming he doesn't need the higher refresh rate.

IPS and larger screen size matters more in office work.

You would start with just a small increase then stress test if unsuccesful increase more until stable or max temp exceeded

Teknis reacted to DocSwag in Help, I think I got a crappy psu D:
No matter what you should probably replace that psu... It sounds like a not so good unit and who knows, maybe one day it'll blow and take your whole system with it....

If you're looking into a new GPU check out the rx 460 which is coming out in 3 days. It'll cost around 100 bucks and my guess is it will deliver GTX 950 or so level performance while consuming less power. Even if it doesn't deliver its worth waiting to see.

    Yeah it's probably dead.

You could try and replace the actual BIOS chip itself.

If you mean the VCE settings under the advanced tab, probably not. If VCE has its own tab I don't know because I've never used that before because I use NVENC (Nvidia's hardware encoder). But most likely you are good to go, try it out and see what happens

No prob, in theory using VCE should work about as good as anything.

Hmm. After doing some research it seems that you need OBS multiplatform for support of AMD's hardware encoder, which is called VCE. So you could always go that route. I would say turn down the video settings to 720p 30FPS, and make sure the encoding preset is on veryfast. If you still get graininess I'm running out ideas but I can check OBS forums.

It's not that bad, plenty good for games really. However x264 is using your CPU to encode the footage, which it can't handle doing very well while playing a high end game. You need a much higher end CPU for that. However a hardware encoder comes with modern GPU's, and the one on the 380X is probably fairly good. Go to the encoding tab in settings, and you should see an option to change the encoder from x264 to the one on your GPU, which will probably be AMD or Radeon something-or-other, don't know exactly for AMD cards. That should stop taxing your CPU and get you better framerates, and maybe take away the graininess as well.

You mean that it was originally on veryfast? that's almost always where it should be for x264, so if not, try that. Either way the better option is probably to switch the encoder off x264 altogether.

    Oops, didn't mean to
