That's what macro keys on gaming keyboards are for

You should be fine for a 2700X.

OBS sees about 20%~ CPU usage if I want to do 1080p60 streaming on veryfast preset. That doesn't impact my gaming.

When I install my 5700XT today, I will be locating the plugins for OBS.

However, I did pick up the ROG STRIX, and ASUS does give you a year of XSplit, so I may test that out, as I suspect that will be an overall better experience.

Honestly, the major improvements with the NVENC on Turing is really appealing, especially since it helps with ASR on Oculus.

AMD really needs to invest more into VCE, but I believe it is mostly a software concern. I have found Relive to be glitchy at best on my RX 580. I am hoping that improves on the 5700XT, but I am not holding my breathe.

Luckily for my streaming, I just do software since I got the Ryzen 7 specifically for being able to stream without needing the GPU for less quality footage.

It is the same UI that they've had since Windows XP.

Honestly, IDK why they haven't changed it. They should just migrate it all to the Geforce Experience app, which I love with my laptop. Ironically, I've had more crashes and weird issues with that versus my desktop, but I imagine it would just be my laptop. It's an i5-8300H + a GTX 1050ti.

On the flip side, I had to fight with my buddy's PC to get an RX 570 to work well with his i7-3770, but he is also still on Windows 7, so I imagine support is pretty much dismal on that front for both sides.

People always say AMD has bad drivers. Or worse drivers. Or not as good drivers. But from my experience of owning many many generations of Radeon graphic cards for several years spanning from Radeon 9600 Pro to Radeon HD7950 and whole lot of them in between, they have the same quality as NVIDIA. I switched to NVIDIA again relatively recently with GTX 980 and now I'm on GTX 1080Ti and I've had almost more issues with drivers than with Radeon cards. Mostly on desktop and not in games, surprisingly.

And AMD's control panel is like so much user friendly and just nice to use opposed to butt ugly NVIDIA Control Panel that's horrendously slow even on stupid powerful system, glitchy and looks like something that escaped from year 2004.

980 Ti still held up damn well over time, sadly I don't have mine anymore so I can't test them.

I've had a bunch of GPUs from both sides (1050, 1050 Ti, 1660 Ti, 980 Ti, 1080 Ti vs RX570, RX480, Vega FE, and Radeon VII), I'd say they're pretty equal. Nvidia drivers have been really stable for me and Shadowplay is excellent, but you need an account for that and the Nvidia Control Panel is outdated (mostly the options menus don't get bigger even if you put the app to full screen, so scrolling and reading everything is annoying). AMD's ReLive is meh and their encoding is worse than Nvidia's, but their software takes no account to use. You get ReLive, a solid overlay, Wattman (OC utility, excellent for Vega Cards), a modern and clean UI. Easy updating of your drivers, unless you do a clean install then you can downgrade easily as well.

The main disadvantage of AMD's drivers would be that they tend to blackscreen on unstable OCs. Nvidia GPUs will kill whatever process you were running on them (I use Unigine Heaven or Valley on a loop when OCing), then you can reset the OC and start again. AMD GPUs will do that on slightly unstable OCs, if you push it a bit too far it'll blackscreen and force you to restart and re-open all your software, sometimes Wattman will be derpy for a bit afterwards. That said I have gotten my Radeon VII to 2050Mhz core and grabbed the 4th spot for my CPU/GPU combo in Time Spy (or technically 2nd if you take into account that the top 3 results are the same guy on different runs), if I stepped into powerplay tables I think I could push it farther.

Which brings us to actual overclocking. I never pushed my Vega FE or RX570 much, but my Nitro+ RX 480 8GB took undervolts or max voltage with an OC very well, was a damn good card. And ofc my RVII is solid as stated above. Due to locked voltages (you can up the voltage limit but the cards still just pull what they want) there's not as much customization and tweaking to do with Nvidia cards, but they've all done well for me. I don't remember pushing my 1080 Ti too hard, but I had two 1080s running in SLI at 2100Mhz on the core and they were beastly (but sadly none of my main games scaled well). My 1660 Ti sits at a casual +100 on the core for 2040Mhz under F@H load, pretty sure I could push it farther if I stopped folding to actually work on it.

TL;DR: Nvidia and AMD cards are excellent. Both have random driver issues like any other hardware, on average I'd call them equal. Both usually support cards longer than the typical 5 year useful life, I think AMD does put a little more care into their drivers though (such as how the Fury X can challenge a 980 Ti now IIRC, it used to be slightly behind).

On the software side, both have good features to offer, but AMD would take the win here due to Nvidia requiring an account to use it.

Hardware wise both are hella solid and fun to OC in their own ways.

OP, congrats on the 2070 Super and enjoy the card! I'd like to get my hands on a bigboy Turing someday, other than some issues with VRAM on very early 2080 Tis they're excellent cards. Should be solid af, and I forgot to mention that you do have one advantage over AMD cards: you can use both FreeSync and GSync monitors, whereas AMD only supports FreeSync.

I feel like those still pushing the blanket driver statement aren't people that have run both.

I think the OP made a good choice since if money isn't a problem, a 2070 Super is a solid buy and will serve him well.

I personally just took the plunge on the 5700XT, as someone who has been running AMD personally since 2010 on my primary machines, I have grown accustomed to awesome feature updates and performance updates over time. They really do age like a fine wine, where NVIDIA is very "what you see is what you get" at the time of purchase.

My own opinion is there's no point in waiting. Chip manufacturers are always announcing their next chip releases. It's a perpetual cycle of waiting. Not long after the 10th gen releases you'll start hearing rumors and then an official statement about 11th gen. You end up in a vicious cycle of waiting for the next chip just to hear about THE NEXT CHIP.

Personally I don't try to keep up with the latest & greatest. I lag 1 gen behind. It's cheaper. I always know what's coming next & most of the bugs are worked out before I get there. It's the best of everything.

I've had multiple Nvidia cards crash systems and be crap after a few years. Same with crappy drivers causing massive stability issues and unusable systems. Both sides have had this and it is by no means a reason to choose one over the other. I've had AMD cards since the 5870 and there have been some driver issues but those were always with beta drivers and rarely with the normal ones. a simple reinstall of the old ones fixes those issues... same as you would with nvidia. If the 5700 xt performs better in the games you play you're buying worse performance for the same price... sounds like a bad deal to me, but good luck with it.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people are suggesting cheap ass motherboards for a top tier CPU. Personally, if I had the money to drop on a 3950X, I'd probably grab either a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master or Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero. For RAM, I'd definitely be at least looking for a 3600mhz CL14 kit. Ideally (and this is what I did for my 3700X), I'd get a 3866mhz kit with the lowest timings possible, under-clock it to either 3800mhz or 3733mhz, and then tighten up the timings and much as I could.

Wait, you are willing to splurge of a relatively expensive CPU but would scrimp on a mobo? Get a mid tier X570 at the very least, and 3600Mhz Cl16 RAM, or at the very least 3200Mhz Cl16 RAM.

When I scored my 3900X, I knew I'd get a mid tier X570 mobo at the very least, but ended up with a high end X570 Aorus Xtreme. Also bought 32GB DDR4 3200 cl16 and 3733Mhz cl17 Patriot Steel Viper to play with. I have the former, the latter my niece will pass to me in December when she comes to visit me.

Honestly, for that CPU, an RX 470/570 is pretty perfect.

I just dropped in a new budget Corsair PSU and an RX 570 into my buddy's old Dell with an i7-3770 in it, and he is stupid happy running all of the games he plays on high/ultra at 75hz.

It really is such a good pairing, and arguably maxes out what that CPU generation can do gaming wise.

    Just don't overclock them

You can also just manually undervolt them, or just drop the power target to 80% or so.

Also wattman has an auto undervolt feature now.

an RX 470 or 570 would be the best thing to go for.

I doubt it is the RX 580 causing micro stutter if you are having this issue with two different ones.

The fact that this happens on the desktop too tells me this is more of a system problem than a graphics card problem.

I would do validate that you are on the latest version of Windows 10 (even consider a clean install) and do a Windows integrity check.

Honestly, I tend to get weird issues after each major Windows 10 patch, which results in me just doing a built-in reset, which fixes my issues.

This happens on both my AMD and Intel systems, so this more of a Microsoft issue I notice than anything else.

Do you have these parts already? because Zen+ is really considerable worse than Intel's Coffee Lake and Zen2 for high refresh rate gaming not to mention it's IMC is weaker and it's extremely difficult get memory clocked at 3600mhz.

This doesn't feel like a very good start if you ask me.

When you say that what are you considering on the regards of models? the cheapest 2070 Super should be the FE which is good while the cheapest 5700XT is the reference blower which is very mediocre.

AMD has most the features nVidia has nowadays so the drivers aren't lacking on this regard however Navi is a very new product and there's indeed a very large amount of complains on the regards of stability and usability.

So all in all nVidia still has better drivers on some aspects but that alone shouldn't be what dictates your decision.

Until now I only played Borderlands 3, which I consider that have a bad perfomance, it drops to 50fps (it doesn't go further) easily in stress situation (continuosly while playing with friends xDDDD), but, as I said, for me the game perfomance is bad. However it mostly goes at 60fps.

I can also play later MHW if you want to see how the card runs in some hunts, anyway I'm gonna pass the benchmark of BL3 capped at 75fps and unlimited, I'll post the results later.

RX 570 should be the defacto budget standard until something changes.

It is also pretty great as it supports Radeon Image Sharpening now as well.

I just dropped the Sapphire Pulse into my friend's old i7-3770 Dell PC, and he is blown away that he can play most games on high/ultra at 1080P.

    drops to 240 are unnoticeable

u will notice that ur gpu isn’t at full usage either.

basically it’s the games sim time and depends also on how other people’s pc are talking to the server etc and that causes bottleneck within the game engine
