  1. My old Acer Aspire 5750G used to run a DDR3 and a DDR3L stick at the same time and even tho it had no problem booting, everytime I took them out for cleaning (daily used that thing for 10 years), it was a game of reseating each stick 15 times to get it working again - it would boot with the 1st and with the 2nd but not with both until it decides to do so. Having dug it up from its grave after it death just now, it still has its Kingston MBLW6-J9XM4W-WW09F 1.5V stick and a SPECTEK ST51264BF160B.16FKR 4GB DDR3L stick. One of the ram slots has clearly stamped 1.5V in it, idk the other since there is a label on top of it but I doubt its a 1.35V slot. So can u mix them? - like the others said, maybe a 1.35V stick will work in a 1.5V slot but I wouldnt try my luck if it would save just a few bucks.
  2. Caution: Retro hardware ahead! Proceed at your won risk I recently found a collection of Burr Brown SDM854BG and SDM854AG chips (example photo) and went on wild hunt to search for any documentation for them - found the original one that is from 1990 (almost a decade older than me). Knowing what an ADC does, I'm wondering how does this one is supposed to work on hardware level - is there any special board/socket to connect it to something or is it "get your breadboard out and gl champ"? The "setup" part of the documentation uses a lot of "connect that pin to this pin" so it's making me think that some sort of breadboard is the intended way. Lastly dont get me wrong - I have no illusions of making them work, just curious so any info is appreciated!
  3. Please try to look a bit deeper into the problem. The content during the "glory days" was not only easy to understand from the title and thumbnail but also easy to find if you ever needed it again. I'm not an encyclopedia, remembering everything from every video + the stupid title its given so in the event I need it, I could find it easy. And this is not only for personal use but pointing other people to said content. I've tried to help people on the forum, asking stuff that has been answered in a video with details, but it proved impossible to find said video..... As to "you cant compare the 2 channels cuz 1 has XXX videos and LTT has 6000 videos uploaded" is the very easy to see reason, why LS doesn't care for only getting at max 1/7 views/sub count and that is that every video uploaded ever daily gets more views. So he doesn't get the revenue of say 2m views a day, he probly gets 3-5-10mil views a day over all videos cuz YT will keep recommending them in the feeds, even crap you have already watched multiple times (f that jar of thermal paste honestly) So yeah, quantity over quality is a strategy that works in a world where the dummer your content is, the better it does.
  4. This feels a bit like OP's other topic from a few days ago (Better Graphics Card needed or Devs getting lazy with optimization?) and I think he already have received a few good responses there. Nevertheless, the most straightforward answer to "is there a reason to upgrade?" is that when your machine cant do what you want, you spend more money to make it better/get a new one. Is it only the devs or are the user too tho? A game can run on very different hardware only by desired resolution/fps output criteria. Going from 1080p to a 4k alone is 4 times more pixels to be generated. 30 vs 300HZ monitor (fps required) is also big leap in the "horsepower" needed to accomplish. I'm still quite comfortable using my GTX 960 2 gb version even tho I just bought 2 165HZ 1080p displays but I dont play any AAA games. My hardware meets my demands so I dont feel the need to upgrade it even tho its getting "dated".
  5. This is not an option to begin with so without adding mods, i doubt there is a way to "lock it out". Assuming you, the admin, didnt give him OP (trying /deop name cant hurt anyway), he is most likely using some sort of cheat client or abusing a know multiplayer bug for this version of the game. Since you havent specified which version the server is using, nor am I knowledgeable to begin with about modern minecraft exploits, I suggest googling something of the lines "get op on any server in version X.XX" and looking up potential ways of how he is doing it. Afterwards, knowing what you are up against, you can look for a patch.
  6. @Ykcud please expand on what you consider a "modern game". Modern games can be Triple-A titles that push even the best available hardware to the limits or for example what I just found on Steam, "(redacted cuz its mature content)" game that is released in 2022 yet as recommended systems specs has a GTX260. See the difference? As of the FM2 platform and it's refresh - the FM2+. I own an Athlon 760k, which can be considered 1 of the best CPUS on these platforms, from around 2013-4. The cores of this CPU are relatively fast if looked at individually but suck for multicore usage cuz of their design flaw. If we compare these CPUs to Intel, where hyper threading gives each core 2 lanes to feed it data for maximum speed, AMD decided to make it's CPUs cheaper by making 2 cores share their resources (cache) effectively doing the reverse of Intel with 2 cores sharing 1 cache module, waiting in turns to use it. What this does to put it simply is you have a quad core CPU with 2 fast and 2 retarded cores at all times. Worst part is that the speed at which these cores perform is not predetermined so windows or the program itself cant know to use the 2 fast ones. To see real example of what I'm trying to explain - https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Athlon+X4+760K+Quad+Core&id=1997 Notice the Average CPU Mark number and the Single Thread Rating - the quad core has a combined score of a dual core cuz during the test, 2 of its core sat idle waiting for cache to be freed. To be fair, it was priced like Intel dual core I3s back then and the only cheeky advantage was that the FM2 line had actual physical 4 cores so when a few games showed up which required 4 cores, the Athlon could run them while i3 and Pentium (when they got hyperthreading) users would get a "you system doesn't meet the minimum requirements" even if they had faster overall CPUs. My 760k was bough paired with a GTX 650Ti for the sole reason of playing assassin's creed black flag and it did that without an issue. The problems began when I upgraded to a GTX 960 where the old Athlon was bottlenecking it horribly. Even overclocking it to 4.7 GHz, games like Assassin's Creed Syndicate would just not run without stuttering issues. That being said, I still use it for an older MMO game host machine or to record my lectures - it's perfect for these kind of tasks. Now would I run it for daily usage? - not unless I have to.
  7. Had similar problems with a faulty RAM module - try removing 1 by 1 (in case you have more than 1 stick) or use different/borrow from someone. Also wise choice when starting such threads is to give your machine specifications.
  8. and leave the rest of the world with only the western propaganda - wouldn't that be convenient to stop the few that actually read both sides to try to find some truth? The whole act of trying to silence someone usually is because those in power don't agree with what they are saying. After all:

So my P4 system can handle 1080p YouTube playba…

I've played Assassin's Creed Rouge on 3 GHz P4 with a GTX 650TI - ran smooth for about a minute (did the intro chase through the snow with the other assassin) till the 2 GBs RAM filled up and then the whole system locked up. Added 2 more GBs and it was playable.
  10. Well since the browser does not reload the page when switching pages in a thread, it does not reset the counter. Therefore going from page 4 and reading all the way to the end with that tab opened made it stack. Anyway, idc if its 1 or 100 per page, my point still stands.
  11. I have whitelisted sites, but I will not do it for LMG revenue. Why? - very simple. Remember few years ago when the community gathered here and told Linus "stop with the stupid thumbnails and clickbaity titles"? What was Linus response? Wasn't it something of the likes "I heard you, but it generates me more subscribes and more money so I will keep doing it"? (I won't go through years of stupid faces to link the actual video). We, the community that cared back then, got the fu so why being surprised when you receive the same? ARRRRRRR while writing this my plugin has blocked 107 ads from this page alone......
  12. With the excessive info provided, I would guess that the newly build computer is trying to look for updates and its hogging up all your network bandwidth. Sorry, don't mean to be rude or anything but 6 MB/s of internet speed is nothing when you can have a few GBs worth of updates to download. Check in the task manager is the new machine is using its network adapter - it should look something like this (w10 example).
  13. 6 years after the case was modded and still works. I'm almost sure these are still the OG zip ties even XD
  14. The information I would take from these readings is "are my voltages stable" and not that much at what exact number each rail is. During different loads the numbers will change most likely but as long as they remain stable all is fine.
  15. Mine are not sadly. The board takes 19V laptop charger and makes 12,5 and 3.3 and now its power cycling whenever I try to boot it.
  16. Video on how to find bad capacitors or coil wines next please. Please Anthony, 3 out of my 4 alt boards are with such problems
  17. The system specs are Ryzen 7 3800X and 6700XT with 32GB of ram (idk the mobo model). Latest W10, latest drivers. It's running into a weird problem playing the game Bounty Bay Online (http://bbo.playsnail.com/) which is native DirectX 8 game (lunched in 2005) - whenever he has just 1 client opened, it runs smooth. Opening 2nd or more clients, they will lag whenever he uses skills (renders additional 3D animation) and with that GPU it will go down to 10fps. It's not system bottleneck either cuz the "Recommended system requirements" are "Intel Pentium IV 2GHz processor and NVIDIA GeForce 9500 video card" Reinstalling the game does not fix it and other ppl with AMD GPUs have reported the same issue. Going back to older drivers is described by "Even using old drivers with my AMD and it's pretty crappy". That system has ran more clients smooth last year so its either windows updates or driver updates that mess it up. Have tried running into comparability mode and pretty much every option in the radeon software - no change. Any known problems with AMD and older DirectX versions?
  18. Look at it a bit like reverse psychology. Given your current use cases, go for the 8GB since that will limit your tab hoarding and cure you slowly but surely from this bad habit XD. If you don't wanna be cured - at least 16
  19. What is "very, very clearly safe"? To give an example of what answer I want, this is the law where I live: When overtaking a bicyclist, you have to leave the same amount of room between you and him, as his height on the bicyclist on the bicycle. This way, if he falls towards you, you wont run him over. IF you dont have visibility to safely give him that distance between you two (aka go into the other lane most of the times), you wait behind the bicyclist until you can past him. From the other end, the bicyclist must always be as far right on the lane as he can. That way he leaves the most space for a car to pass him. Now, about the law siding with the bicyclist - it's really simple. You have a driving license to be able to drive a car. You should know the laws of the road to have gotten that license. Cyclist dont have license. It could be person with driving license, it could be someone who cant even read. This means you have to protect them being the more "professional" of the 2 sides. And before saying that the above is BS. My dad was a truck driver for a while and he had a chat with a german policeman once. What the guy told him, is that if there is a crash between a truck and a car, for him 90% of the time the truck driver is at fault automatically, because the truck driver is a professional driver, while the car driver is a not. It's expected from the more professional driver to watch out and guard the more amateur one.
  20. This is not overheating. Even kinda low temp if its under full load. Use your cards and don't overthink those stuff.
  21. For a product that is specifically made to target the group of people, who care for their devices being reparable (aka the enthusiasts), the specs of this machine definitely are more towards the general consumer. To me this looks like a small/ easy to transport machine with good battery life for some presenter/salesman/general light home use BUT not for some engineer like me for example who needs both strong CPU and GPU for the software they use. I'm definitely interested into the concept, but will wait for future generations. Hopefully Framework's decision to target the bigger consumer market with lower specs will keep them afloat to make more products in the future.

Why I will never use Linux unless I have to: RP…

So this network speed + v3 board with Adata SD card that worked much faster a year ago are not enough for it now eh? Never knew that an SD card can degrade from just sitting without any read/write being done to it.
  23. Why I will never use Linux unless I have to:

RPI chugged at updating rasbian kernel for 3 hours, so i formatted it and installed new copy of the OS. First thing it does - starts updating for another hour.

Speeds of the things you do with a RPI depends on the quality of the SD card. Use a shit card and get a shit experience. Not to mention internet speed will have a major impact when updating too. This issue of yours, is a self inflicted one.

That's a strange way to judge something as vast as Linux.

Well it's a sd card, what do you expect from it

If you want it to go fast get a usb to sata adapter and use 128gb sdd

  24. I've used a raspberry pi with a vpn server working on it. As long as you can connect to it, it gives you access to the rest of the network too.
  25. Even tho I voted "yes", I'm playing a few games on daily basis. Reason for my vote is, I no longer care about anything new. I even made a threat here, asking for MMORPG suggestions recently, and found out eventually that the reason I'm so picky is: I don't wanna invest time into learning a new game and I'm searching very similar to my current one which I'vee been around 15 years, actively playing for the last 7, know the ins and outs of 98% of the stuff and can beat almost anyone no matter their progression lvl (i'm mid tier). There is no way I get this same experience on anything else without investing hundreds of hrs and I no longer feel like doing smth like this. The other reason is, I enjoy a lot more watching a playthrough of a new game I find interesting instead of actually playing. Big AC fan, last one I installed was Origins and played maybe 1hr before uninstalling it.
