FirstM8 reacted to CookieMaster in i7 6700k gpu decent
Highly doubt you will be able to game on no gpu, unless the games are on low settings and or are not intensive with graphics ( minecraft, gmod)

FirstM8 got a reaction from BrinkGG in Dell shipping questions?
I have never ordered from Dell personally, but I work in a IT department that is Dell certified and uses Dell for everything. The parts we order come in on the earliest date, almost all the time.

FirstM8 reacted to Mcmole in Why people say that a GTX1060 is enough for 1080p 60hz?
Try turning everything to max and turn Anti-Aliasing to X2, That should give you 60 FPS in all games.

Your computer and OS are smarter than you at managing resources. Let it do its thing.

FirstM8 reacted to manikyath in {US} Nice HP workstation on Newegg
before anyone starts yammering about HP:
- for $390 that's one hell of a deal
- hp's workstation cases are as toolless as possible
- hp's cases are armored steel
- hp's workstation systems are -as far as i know- not proprietary, at least i've not found any incompatibilities with standard parts yet.
- if you're a starting out one person company and need something not disgusting to do your work on, this is quite the professional looker under or on top of your desk

FirstM8 reacted to manikyath in {US} Nice HP workstation on Newegg
the case by itself would probably be equal to a $100-150 case in terms of quality and functionality

should probably add that HP's workstation power supplies are gems of the industry.

Yes it is a great place, but IT IS A OEM KEY. (no full support) Would you run a workstation without win support. This isn't a shitty gaming rig, this computer is for commercial use. Downtime means loss of money.

That is a typo if you read the computers spec sheet on HP's webstite it is max 64.

It can be a great gaming system on the cheap as the E5-2670 in gaming performs very close to a i7 6700k, while in Multi-Threaded apps with a i7 6800k
And can also be a great workstation/server on the cheap to slowly upgrade over time

forgot to add that ~195MB of that memory was going to the OS, and that most of the time it was botting cookie clicker *for science* as well.
but yeah, defenately, money well spent on that gig of ram

More like a game server, as in I'd be running an Arma 3 server on it.

FirstM8 reacted to 79wjd in {US} Nice HP workstation on Newegg
Ummm, no? A 6700k @ 4ghz will be a decent bit better at gaming than a Sandy Bridge 2670 @ 2.6ghz.
Most games still can't leverage all the extra threads and the IPC difference alone makes a 4ghz 6700k about equivalent to a 5.2ghz~ 2600k. And that ignores improved memory bandwidth of DDR4 and the fact that a 6700k can be overclocked.

That's what I figured...figured I'd get some advice in case there was something I didn't know about heatsinks thanks!

FirstM8 reacted to 79wjd in {US} Nice HP workstation on Newegg
I'm only pointing out that @keNNySOC's initial post about a 2670 performing similarly to a 6700k in gaming as being completely wrong. I agree, there are better options than a 2670 for gaming, although a 2670 is still a perfectly capable gaming CPU -- a workstation can still be a good gaming computer.
And what do you know a 6700k does better. And how about literally every other benchmark, oh, I guess we can just ignore those because they contradict your initial bullshit claim.
