Cyborgsmith got a reaction from Phantonex in New Chair?
Sorry to rain on your parade but you gotta spend big money to get a decent chair.
I got myself a DX Racer Boss a few months ago ($$$$) totally worth it as it is one of the few chairs on the market that gives me full neck and head support while being reclined. I'm also a bigger guy, 6'1 230lb
That extra DX racer "cost" your talking about is the quality of the product they are making don't espect to get anything half decent for less then 300.
As one of the other guys mentioned you could literally take a seat out of a car and mount it to your old chairs frame. Not a bad way to go if your handy with the right tools and have more time then money.

Cyborgsmith got a reaction from Cotroneo in Thoughts on this fan setup? (NH-D15, DEFINE R5)
@Cotroneo
Like others have said ditch the top fan
Did you get the windowed sidepanel or the one with the fan mount?
If you have the option use the side intake, there are magnetic filters you can use to help with dust.

Cyborgsmith reacted to GuiltySpark_ in Dell 165HZ 1440p g-sync monitor
I've blind tested my friends a few times using my G-Sync capable 144Hz display and none of them can tell the difference between G-Sync disabled and ~144fps in game to G-Sync enabled and limiting the FPS to 100fps.
That's literally the whole reason you would buy a G-Sync capable display. If it didn't do that, why are people spending the premium? To eliminate tearing? Seem a little overkill.

Cyborgsmith got a reaction from Mortis Angelus in Why do (gaming) headset microphones suck?
With anything "gamer" focused your paying for an aesthetic/specific feature set. For a lot of us (outside of the business world) something like the ModMic on a pair of cans would give us the best of both worlds.
Lets be honest RGB on a headset is not a feature set, its a waste of money and resources.

Cyborgsmith reacted to squirrl in I was told that 1080p is "unusable" and that anyone who thought it was "has never used a computer for anything but gaming"
I would say 2560x1440 at a minimum. I can use lower but the lack of screen real estate is annoying. If it's for any scaled content it depends on the screen size and media. i could probably game or watch films at lower resolutions

The x80 Ti card of nVidia is always the best card to ensure you're not getting the middle finger in each generation.

Cyborgsmith got a reaction from DrMikeNZ in my temps seem off
With water and a bit of tweaking you can get it past 4.4ghz

Cyborgsmith reacted to DrMikeNZ in my temps seem off
So far, everything I have run on the 1700 has been erratic, unstable, and slow. Handbrake encodes are taking nearly twice as long.
The 6900K still has good value for some workloads. I can buy 2 Ryzen 1700 systems for the price of a 6900K system. I would draw the same amount of power, and get the same amount of work done in a smaller footprint with the 6900K.

Money isnt really an issue if you can afford to buy into the X99 platform.

Cyborgsmith reacted to lexidobe in How I fixed my sagging GPU. Functional but looks are debatable
My GTX 970 was sagging badly because of the weight of an EK waterblock and backplate. I feel like the sagging is bad for the PCIe slot on the motherboard, at very least. This is how I fixed it. It will be temporary until I find a more elegant way to support it. This piston is from a Honda 1.7 liter engine that I am rebuilding. Any input on other ways to support it would be welcome. Maybe it's just me, but I think that this fix looks surprisingly descent.

Would you be more happy if he had only low end hardware? The man has built an incredibly successful YouTube empire! He's an entertainer and a business man. And a damn good one. The disrespect you talk about is all in your head.

Cyborgsmith reacted to Princess Luna in GTX 1080 BIG problem, need advice/help ASAP
unnistall the GPU from the system, boot using onboard graphics, DDU drivers in safe mode, turn all off, place the GPU back in the mobo again but stay with the onboard graphics, boot up... install Geforce Experience and let it update drivers by itself automatically, once done turn all off, finally switch back to the GTX 1080 and boot up, should work like a charm.

yeah but hey! you like to make it sound perfect but you made 52 mistakes when you picked your parts...
you don't need an unlocked core i5 with a more expensive Z270 board and aftermarket cooling you would have gotten more performance out of an i7-6700 with an H110 board and a stock cooler...you could have bought a GTX 1070 with the money saved there...
