Description: I found a decent PC in a pile of trash by the side of the road ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so I took it home and it worked ¯\(°_°)/¯. chucked in some new component and made a cheap case out of wood

It's not some baller watercooled build, but it was fun to make!

WAIT HOLD UP. WE DONT WANT LINUS'S PERSONAL PC. The case has a lot of meaning to him guys. It was a gift from his wife. I believe it was the first gift from her too.
EDIT: Thanks for all the likes guys! Hopefully Linus or someone from LMG will read this and this will make Linus keep his build. Even if the goal of 100k is made we should convince Linus to do another build maybe, with signatures from the whole LMG family and maybe even his wife. This would let Linus keep the build he has with the special case his wife gave him. Besides, his personal PC would be more special to him than us.

One thing I really can't stand is when someone does something on my PC without asking me, especially someone random.

I remember this one time a few years back. I was at a small LAN event, about 20 people, and this one guy that was a friend of friend came to my PC and changed all my network settings because he thought I didn't know how when I already set everything perfectly and his changes ended up messing up my connectivity.

Also at another LAN event some random guy came to my PC to see if he can access his PC, I was standing right beside my PC and he didn't say a word.

I am sad to say that i am leaving the forum. It has become a toxic community of people who are either know it all's or people who want to start fights about anything, I am hoping that this is just the forums awkward teenage years and that it will smooth out later on but for the time being it is just become a mess. the only mod that seems to do anything is windspeed36 and to be 100% honest he kind of over moderates, any little thing he doesn't like goes down, and while he has the right to do that it gets a little annoying after a while. I mean this in not a mean way but more a constructive criticism way. And what i am getting sick of the most is the amount of fighting that always happens, any post you make immediately gets taken the wrong way and people fight about it, if you don't have a conventional thought/idea on something you are automatically incorrect without even being able to explain why you feel/think that way. It makes to to where i really hate reading threads anymore, there used to be such good conversations but now its like reading YouTube comments. I really hate to see the forum go and as i said before I hope this is only a phase but until i am convinced that it is fixed i will not be active on the forum anymore. If you wish to contact me you can message me on steam ID: Joelthezombie15.

I have meet some amazing people on this forum and i am not saying everyone is like this but it seems like the good majority of users are.

Well, good bye. I will be on for the next day or so for anything that need tying up but this will be my last post.

(note) to stop any confusion this is not meant as a angry or mean post this is just how i feel and me stating my opinions, you can think whatever you want.

the fact that i felt that i had to put that little note at the bottom should speak enough for this point im making.

    Hey guys,

This is more of a production type of update, while updating some stuff i want to do with the loop.

I received a package from some awesome people over at Cowboy Studio

They are amazing, great studio lights, 5500k illumination so its practically daylight!

So lets see how things look with better lighting!

this is something i want to change. Sure the lighting looks great, but i think I'm going to end up rotating the block so that the inlet is at the top, and the outlet is at the bottom. Might make this look a lot cleaner

I'm so in love with this sleeve. MDPC-X is amazing stuff. I need to buy more i've already run out.

However, these images also revealed that i need to fix the run from the GPU block, to the res. This doesn't look good and it looks likes its kinking a bit. A little too much there.

    As well,
I was a FanExpo yesterday, I shot some great footage with some amazing cosplayers.
I had the chance to speak with some of the Xbox people, unfortunately Ubisoft and Playstation PR guys were pretty wrapped up with conventional media time, so they couldn't fit me in.

However, this is where even more bad news comes in.
Yet, here is some back story just to show you how bad the day was.

Started off the day with a major delay with the subway with a Toronto fire department investigation. Some idiot at the station pulled the fire alarm.
Next, arriving at FanExpo an hour late, Teletoon had lost my weekend passes and my press pass.  We waited an hour for the weekend pass to be fixed, but i couldn't get my press certification back.
So, pushing that emotional let down aside, I attempted to do the best i could with the interviews i could muster.

After conducting all my interviews, I play back some of the audio. Sounded great, then all the sudden my data is gone. I plug the microSD card in my phone, and it wont read. i try my card reader at home, nothing.
All my externally recorded audio is gone. The MicroSD card is dead....

I want to break something. But, thinking positive, I'm Motivated to make sure i get this done, so that i dont let down those who were kind enough to support me, and give me their time for these interviews.
We'll see what i have in store :D

Seems like whenever I make some positive gains with this build and everything else im perusing, i take a step back.
Lesson? Only Class 10 microSD's. they are not all created equal.

    Hey Everyone.

Expect a few updates in the next coming days.
I built the loop on monday morning.... but like an idiot I pulled out the pumps 12v cable from its crimp....  So i spent a lot of time Tuesday coming up with a fix. Which I'm happy to say i have with a bit of heatshrink and some well, inspiration lol. The loop is going and temps are great.... but I dont like the look of the tube, and the tube routing. Things are 100% going to change.

Pics tonight or tomorrow..... we'll call this a Beta build  because there is a lot more to come and this was just testing out the bugs!

Ghost416 reacted to Complx in [Build Log] RGD - Custom Built Surround Monitor Stand
    By: Complx

    Reasoning:

The basic idea for this project was was born out of frustration out of seeing what was available on the current market, a lot of triple monitor stands I saw were wildly expensive.  Some cost $300 or more and even after spending that much money on these stands, you still would see people complaining that their monitors that were mounted to the outer arms would often sag and not line up correctly.

Another thing I noticed about a lot of these stands was a complete lack of added functionality to the user, besides just holding the monitors, they often would have no real added value or function to them, the only exception that I could find in my research was the XFX Triple Monitor stand, which incorporated 2 USB 2.0 hubs and a Headphone and Mic jack into the base of their stand.

So after a bit more research, I still could not find a monitor stand that really offered what I was looking for.  In all honesty the XFX stand would have been almost perfect, but the price was a little off putting and I found out that they don't make it anymore.  Also, the places that still do have it in stock are charging even more for it than before.

So I have set out to design and build a monitor stand for myself that can support up to 4 monitors!

    Research:

As stated before, I did a fair amount of research for the project before i started the real work.  There seemed to be 2 "go to" companies when it came to monitor stands, though I know, and looked at, many more.  Ergotron and Ergotech seemed to be the big two.  But a lot of their models that supported 3+ monitors can run up in price. ($200-$300 or more)

One of the issues I had with these off the shelf monitor stands right now is the "sag" some of them tend to have, especially when it comes to the arm which the 2 side monitors (Left and Right) are often attached to.  To compensate for this, a lot of the monitor stands have VESA mounts that allow for height adjustment to help line up the end monitors with the center one.

While this was a good solution to the problem of sag, I felt the bigger issue had not been dealt with, just kind of patched over.  So this was one major area I wanted to focus on, rigidity.

The next issue I had was for the price, these stands often lacked additional functionality, besides holding the monitors in place.  As mentioned before, the XFX stand had a USB and sound hub built into the base of their stand, which I really fell in love with.   So this was the second thing I wanted to focus on, added functionality to the user.

    The Hardware:

For this project, I went out and purchased 3 23.6" Asus VN247H-P monitors, the main reason I wanted these was for how thin the bezel was on them, Asus claims it has less than 1cm of bezel on either side.

I have these monitors purchased, but I will post some images of them later.

    The Concept:

So for this project I will be using a material called extruded aluminum, very light weight, but very strong and very rigid.

I have made an initial concept model in CAD program to make sure I have a lot of the measurements and tolerances worked out before I purchase the material and start the first steps of the build.

These first 2 images were the base I started to work with to get an idea of how I wanted to lay out the main supports.

Then I started to work out some of the details on how it would go together:

Right now this is the most current version of the project in CAD form, there are a few more elements I wanted to incorporate into the model before I start the prototyping and building phase.

As it stands now I still need to figure out:

      - Cable management of the power and video cables

      - Incorporating speakers onto the stand

      - Designing the USB hub which will be at the base of the stand

Here is a WIP shot of what the speakers might look like when mounted:  (Please excuse the gray block, it was a place holder model for my 4th monitor.

    Stay tuned!

Ghost416 got a reaction from Vitalius in Can you type with 10 fingers?
When I was about 8-9 years old I started using computers. I don't really remember how I started learning to type but I remember using some sort of typing tutor program a few times. Think it actually helped a little.

I usually only use 6-8 fingers, except when I really have to type fast I'll occasionally use all 10. But I also don't use the "right way".

In my opinion all that matters is that you can type comfortably, although there is always room for improvement.

    Hey Everyone!
So you might have seen my old TJ07 build on other forums, but i felt it was time for a change.
Not only is all the hardware pretty much changing, but so is my goal.
Waiting on a few friends to follow through on promises then its time to get started!!!

So basically, here is the goal. I want to have a multi-platform build. This means showcasing how i build this pc on multiple media, like Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and Twitter, all the while maintaining my steadfast commitment to never compromising on my personal tastes, beliefs and style

So, lets leave this here as a quick and dirty teaser

I've decided to go a little nuts with different content. So basically, each platform will have different, unique content

And for those who dont like facebook etc, i'll post links to all my videos, tweets, instagram pics. etc...
Time to take over ze world!

so I called the manufacturer and they said they would send me another but it might take a few weeks.
Well 2 weeks later no extractor, so i decided i put this build on hold for long enough and decided to make my own.

first step is to bend the tip back and forth. while doing this be careful not to break the inside. Once the whole piece is able to spin to the right pull the tip off. You should be left with a center piece sticking out. Slam the center piece into a hard surface so it goes flush with the outside. now pull the white center with the silver connector and center piece out. You are almost done all you have to do now is pull the black ring off and attach the screw on cover.

Thanks for viewing. Be sure to post pics of your D.I.Y. pin extractor pins bellow
