If I stay with intel i still need to upgrade motherboard and RAM because I only have a 4th gen cpu.

The 1070 should provide a noticeable increase in framerate while reducing heat noise and power consumption. Though if he plays well multithreaded games the CPU could be a better choice.

Oh... my pcpp link showed the US price so I assumed you were in the US without even thinking.

Actually I think it defaults to the last country I selected no matter which one you selected. So my fault for just assuming.

The vram would be ok but everything could suffer. Just get some pads. Only a few bucks and I'm sure you can wait 2-4 days.

Less than $20 on amazon:

I had no idea what thickness I needed to get for putting the cooler back on my old 270X (previously it had a water cooler and Enzotech copper heatsinks on VRAM and voltage regulators).
Managed to trim down the voltage regulator heatsinks to fit with the stock cooler in place, but it currently has no thermal pads on the VRAM.

How about watercooling it again and see if that still happens? If it still works, that means the GPU itself is fine, and likely a short on the cooler fan has triggered over-current protection. If it doesn't..... too bad...

He's not. He used a Kraken G10 bracket. It's a bracket you use instead of the stock cooler to mount standard AIO coolers to a GPU. Looks like this:

Just check that the gpu -> monitor connector is plugged in properly (hdmi, vga, dvi) and try switching it just to eliminate that option.

Only time I have that issue is using the pc on balanced power. I have to change the pci power to maximum instead of optimized.

@Thue500, @dizmo, @TheDankKoosh
If you guys care, I've fixed it!
65C max temp under 100% sustained load (it was going up to 95C yesterday while the 2 "mounts" were broken)
ALL HAIL OUR LORD, OUR SAVIOR, (two part) EPOXY!
But yeah, applying epoxy to em yesterday and leaving them to dry for 20 hours~ seems to have done the trick

have played with p10 and currently using mate 9 pro 6gb ram. go for p10 if u wan triple leica. but for overal build solidness and quality feel, both has self learning algorithm which guarantees u after 18months of usage it doesnt slowdown unlike many other android phones out there. not to mention its super charge. half an hour phone charging gives u around 60-70% from 4-5%. tat would be enuff for quite heavy daily usage. go for mate 9 pro. parts are cheap n easy to get. as for one plus 3t. its still a niche market premium toy.

What internet speed are you promised? I'm trying to suggest a modem and separate router for you

Okay I think I should be able to help you... the modem you have, is it that big white one they replaced with in 2016?
-
Thue500 reacted to Ginger_ in Modem, Router, Repeater HELP!!!!
You can buy replacement, aftermarket modems. You'll need to google what signal type your ISP uses, this is the most important. Once you have the right type of modem, its mostly plug and play, most aftermarket modems will have an auto configuration protocol when you first boot it up, although again, depending on your ISP you might need a login. This is different than your account details with the ISP, but if you need it you can get it easily by calling their service line and explaining you need the modem login details.
If you dont want to spend the money on a new modem, you can try putting a fan on your current one, just a little air movement can do major things for thermals.

You cannot use custom modems with yousee.
-
Thue500 reacted to pmos in Modem, Router, Repeater HELP!!!!
Ah I see, well there are 2 options here, call yousee and ask them to unlock the router/modem configuration, so their systems dont keep overwriting your settings.. Option #1 Disable the firewall for ipv6 (its mostly cookies and script etc).. Option #2 enable bridge mode (turns off the router function) and connect a router to eth port 1 and use that :-)

...The device you are asking for... Is what we call a 'Modem'.
In all seriousness, what you need is JUST a modem. What you have is a Modem/Router combo, it's two devices in one. And sometimes they can be crummy. What you want is a pure modem, a modem that can only hook to ONE computer or must use a router to hook into multiple computers. Then you can use the router of your choosing.
You have two options:
1) A lot of combination devices have the ability to switch to 'Bridge Mode' where all router functions in the modem are disabled and it works like a simple modem. You should probably try this first since you can just as easily undo this.
2) Buy a new modem that is JUST a modem. That however will need you to consult your ISP. They often have very restricted lists of what modem models are compatible. So consult your ISP as to what modem models you could switch too.
