You will likely need to do a fresh install of windows. Sounds more like a driver conflict from your old drivers to new.

IBM Model M keyboards will function with a PS/2-USB adapter, and theyre pretty much the Nokia 3310 of keyboards.

Would it be possible to take a few pictures? Among theese: the connectors, the cpu, the cpu power led (when trying to power on) and such would be great.

    Hmm..
Try to disconnect the monitor. Yes, that means disassembling it to access its motherboard.

Spam F2 or Delete, that should get you into BIOS, F8 is usually boot selection.

What you could do, if you only need to install a new OS, is to remove the drive and plug it into some other computer you have (should you have one), and install from there.

If you search enough you should be able to find a good LGA 1155 mobo fairly cheap. Depending on what kind of game, budget and mobo cost, you should also be able to get a game with them. The CPU looks pretty nice on paper, but the price may be a tad high.

    Sorry for late reply.
Back when i used my 2600K, i used an MSI P67A-C45 mobo. Its not very advanced nor does it cost alot, i think. I had no issues with it though, so i recommend it for you if you can find one. And about the RAM, that is also the variant i used with my 2600K. Xeon's doesnt exclusively use ECC RAM, but most (if not all) are compatible with ECC RAM. To use ECC RAM you would however need a workstation-class mobo, and they are more expensive. And in the case for LGA 1155, probably also rare.

You can clone the HDD contents onto the SSD, pretty much straight up copying everything.
Otherwise, the key isnt specific to the HDD. If you bought an OEM license, its restricted to mobo and CPU.

S340 looks nicer, but 240 has better airflow imo.
Look at Fractal Design cases, too. They have pretty good airflow potential and looks clean.

Just for the heck of it I looked up my first computer. It was my mother's old work unit. A Sharp MZ-821. It sometimes got new games and programs from FM radio. Some station broadcasted them for free. I remember I had to wake up at 3am or so to record it onto a C-casette and then in the morning I'd see what I got before going to school. More often than not it was some stupid accounting software but once in a while I'd get lucky and get a full game. I remember this one very well. This was in the early nineties.
