You are correct. A buddy found this for me.

If you're only getting 144fps then you've got some sort of frame limiting enabled. The reason your usage isn't 100% is because you've effectively told your graphics card don't render anything more than 144 frames a second, and so despite it being capable of more its not. Thus the lower usage.

Guys the whole point of this post was to type f. Not AMD fanboys defending Ryzen. Both RYZEN and Coffee Lake are good chips. Chill

It's a sad day for intel fans wallets as your not just buying a cpu but a mobo all for marginal gain over the 7700K

Dear Intel Fanboys,
You're welcome.
Love,

I'm detecting some salt from some people. Not going to call anyone out.

I donno those benchmarks Linus did were quite shocking. I wasn't even expecting them to be that good!

There is no difference at all between Kaby and Skylake:
As for Haswell and Skylake it's around 7% on average:
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-4790K/3502vs2384
OP should just get the 4790K assuming he's happy with his motherboard cause there's no point getting an entire new platform for 7% of CPU performance more.

I love mine. I have it overclocked to 4.8ghz constant with a Kraken X52. I use it for streaming and gaming. I will say while streaming it for sure isn't always a happy camper. I recently upgraded to 3440x1440 and it struggles to stream now. I am contemplating going with an X99 setup to free up some processing power for streaming.... Knowing I will lose a few FPS due to the down clock of a 6800k.

At this point i'd go for the 1070. it won't perform quite as well when SLI scaling is perfect but it will be far more consistent, and it will likely get better driver support for longer. And that's coming from someone who ran 970s in SLI for the last year and a half.

If you have the money I think you'll be better with a 1070. Less power consumption, less heat and less problems with games that don't support SLI

Bah, I have a pair of R9 290X's in CF mode for my Acer XR341CK @ 3440x1440 and there hasn't been a game I've not been able to max out, framerate is pretty good though I'm not anal enough to have a framerate monitor program running to see framerate. I also have a pair of GTX Titan 6GB in SLi mode for that monitor and it's doing a damn nice job keeping framerate smooth though that monitor is a Freesync monitor.

I have a 3440x1440 Samsung with 980s in sli and in a few titles I max out the VRAM long before running out of horsepower.

For the games you listed it will be fine but you may run out of VRAM in most recent AAA titles really fast.
