Can you look at the circuit board containing the USB and lights from your case? It is usually on the behind the front panel of the case. Examine for damage such as cracked or lose solder joints, burns or detached wires. If that all looks fine, examine the front motherboard header and look for missing pins. Also try downloading the latest USB drivers.

Thats more than my budget and I managed to get Skylake with 16GB of ram and a GTX 970. I also use AUD.

Don't you have your own office installer? If your a student, most schools offer free copies of these. If not, try Google Sheets. The same idea as before. Here is a picture to help explain.

It may not interfere but they can still kick you off the aircraft for using a personal wifi device on a flight. The Faa has strict rules and post 9/11 they dont put up with any protesting of the rules 
@thekeemo That wifi is integrated into the aircraft there is a difference between wifi built into an aircraft and wifi hotspots in the faa eyes.

If you place the pcb in a microwave, you have a chance that it may re-solder a contact point.

I totally agree. I have always said don't upgrade if you don't need to.

Seriously though, a 950 can easily do what you're looking for, probably even a 750 Ti if you're willing to dial down the details. This is the cheapest 950 that my 60 seconds of searching found.

Clearly this is the cooler to go for.

Upgrade when you think games are starting suffer from performance issues.
