When should i Upgrade my GTX 970?

Longshot

so i built my new PC on August 30th. i don't and prob wont have anyone to sell my current card to.

im currently using a 900p monitor since my older one just died on me. i will prob be buying one this summer either 1080p 144hz or 1440p 144hz

im going to the military from the 4th of December (i live in Israel, here everyone has to recruit for 3 years)

i mostly just want to play all games on almost max and maintain a consistent 60+ fps, something thats hard for me to do even now

when would you recommend?

UPDATE:

craigslist in my country is basically abandoned, no one is on it

Depends. If you want the power, a 1070 / 1080 can deliver, it isnt better to wait. If you are okay with the fps the card gives to you, you can wait until the new nivida lineup releases. Personally, i wouldnt go upgrading now. Prices are still to high and ur not getting THAT much more power. I would wait until i can afford a 1080ti and upgrade then. You got a VERY good card for the waiting time. Hope i was able to help you

I don't really see a need to sell a 970, as the 970 is a really good card. I run a stock Nvidia GTX 960 2GB and I can play GTA V, Insurgency and CS:GO really well.

Oh well, it's your computer, your choice.

A 970 should be able to handle 1080p 144Hz just fine. Unless you want to play at a higher resolution, there's no need to upgrade.

I recommend you buy an other 970 and have an SLI. Hopefully 3.5Gb Vram will be enough, but who knows? 970 SLI equals 980Ti equals 1080.
