Lanx got a reaction from BaneHallow12 in R9 390x vs GTX 970
Well, in my country DDR4 is already at the same price of DDR3 (even slightly cheaper in some cases) and Skylake has some nice features. Assuming the DDR4 price scenario is the same in the UK, there should be no reason to go for the 4690k.

Lanx got a reaction from OAcesync in HD 7970/280X Crossfire vs R9 390
Do yourself a favor and don't cf the 7970... it's a stutter fest. While the cards are individually awesome, the architecture of the 7970 and 7950 didn't handle cf as well as it should and caused way too much micro-stutter. I had 2x 7950 vapor x and at the the time it felt like a huge upgrade switching to an r9 290....

Lanx got a reaction from SuperCactus in MSI GTX 970 vs MSI Radeon R9 390
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in this specific benchmark, the 390 only has +1 Average fps but the "minimums" are quite lower meaning the 970 would give an overall smoother experience... And if you consider power consumption, you won't need a PSU as powerful to run the 970 making the bang for buck argument not as compelling.

Lanx got a reaction from UnknownEngineer in Future Build - Need insight.
Almost forgot. Usually 3SSD's in raid0 will max out what the mobo raid controller can handle in terms of performance. Adding a 4th one (example: 4x 256GB) will mainly add storage instead of performance.

Personally I would get a Swiftech H220 for the cooling CPU, and instead of a single 1TB SSD I would get 2 512GB SSD's, or even 4 256GB SSD's. Mainly because at that price you don't want to be limited by SATA 3.
I also agree with @Lanx about the Intel 750's instead of samsungs SSD's. And I think you would also get more out of the 980Ti's, they can be overclocked further.

Well... cost doesn't seem to be much of a problem for you so... I'd pick 4 HDD instead of 2 to make a Raid10 volume instead of Raid0 for long term storage. About the ssd... Personally I'd either prefer 2 or more ssd's in Raid0 for increased performance without increasing cost or an Intel 750 for balls to the wall performance. About the Titan X's... If you're willing to overclock, you'll probably get better performance out of 2x980ti with a good custom cooler.

I actually have a gs70 Stealth pro with one of these:

Simple, light and confusing for people who see an msi laptop with same colour scheme coming out of it
Oh and the laptop fits with the sleeve.

I like Asus's BIOS more but that's just personal preference. Honestly either one works
I'd go with the asus one

I've been saying this for years but we NEED a .gif of a pixelated Linus appearing as though he were a pokemon. And it must have the shiny animation as well.
Specifically for those rare moments when Linus turns up randomly in a thread.

Lanx reacted to atomicus in Best 1440P 144/120/60hz monitor?
You may also want to consider its follow up, the PG279Q, which is due for release soon (September/October). It's IPS, as opposed to TN, which means better colours and viewing angles, but no 3D (if that matters to you). The coating on the screen should also be much better, as the Swift came under criticism for that.

Lanx reacted to handymanshandle in New School Laptop
The Core M MacBook?
For World of Warcraft I have a feeling that the experience on that specific laptop would probably be worse than what an A8 4500M/A8 6410/i5 2430M (an $800 Windows laptop or $1500 MBP would fair a bit better. I don't mind Apple but I wished that for $2,500 Apple put in a slightly better GPU in the 15" rMBP (either the 960M or AMD mobile equivalent)
