Hotpeppa1 reacted to Dewam in Having problems with the crew
Just to take this thread to an end. The guy from Ubisoft came up with a solution that worked. It had nothing to do with drivers or anything. All I had to do was to create a new local user on my computer (it had to be an administrator user) and run the crew on this. It worked out quite well (had to find the game in the file explorer first though). It still doesnt work on my main user, but I can live with it (I have clearified this small issue to the guy from Ubisoft, still waiting for his respond).
So if you have the same problem as me, you may try tthis simple solutuion

I had the same problem with my GTX 950, turns out my drivers were too new for The Crew causing the game to "stop working", this was fixed by finding a older driver that worked.

Hotpeppa1 reacted to LinusTech in @LinusTech Twitter Account Hacked
On June 28, 2016 the Linus Media Group domain registrar account was compromised.
The exact methodology of the "hack" won't be disclosed for obvious reasons, but I can assure you that despite any claims to the contrary, the appropriate safeguards were in place on our side, and as I type this Yvonne is having a very heated phone discussion with the 3rd party responsible for the breach.
Anyway, the thing most of you are probably wondering about right now is what this means for your forum account or personal information, and the answer is very simple:
NOTHING.
The "hacker" simply changed the DNS settings in the dashboard and did not at any time have access to the linustechtips.com server. Any claims of a database dump are categorically false.
The compromised accounts - including Twitter - have been restored.
I hope this clears things up.

Hotpeppa1 reacted to DrM in Would a 750ti be worth it for me?
Can you check the PSU specs, it should be listed on the side of the unit. Specificaly, see if there is a spare 6pin pcie connector and check the amp rating on the 12V rail. If the psu is capable, a 950 is the same price as a 750 ti and much better.
-
Hotpeppa1 reacted to DrM in Would a 750ti be worth it for me?
its should be good enough that it wont bottleneck a 950 or 960. processers havent improved that much over the years
-
Hotpeppa1 reacted to DrM in Would a 750ti be worth it for me?
that could work, though i doubt a prebuilt PSU can handle a tdp of 150W, and thats if it even has a 6pin connector.

Hotpeppa1 reacted to DrM in Would a 750ti be worth it for me?
I just remembered, asus released a 950 that doesnt need a 6pin connector and has a tdp of 75W. that measn that no matter what, you can at least run a 950

Asus has a new GTX 950 without a 6 pin connector but I'm not sure if it's out yet. Otherwise a gtx 750 ti would be good.

Hotpeppa1 reacted to -rascal- in PCI Express 2.1?
No, PCI-Express version 2.x with X16 or X8 lanes is still plenty of bandwidth for even something like a GTX 970 or 980.
Heck, I am running a AMD R9-Fury on a PCI-Express 2.0 motherboard -- not a problem.
-
Hotpeppa1 reacted to Naeaes in PCI Express 2.1?
Where exactly did you get this info? That looks like AMD.com layout, but the site says it's PCI-E 2.0 http://products.amd.com/en-us/search/Desktop-Graphics/ATI-Radeon™-HD-5000-Series/ATI-Radeon™-HD-5500/ATI-Radeon™-HD-5570/41 I'm almost positive, you got some misinfo on your hands.
PCI-E 2.1 was a server-only tech. It's technically not backwards compatible, which is why it never made it big on consumer side.
But to answer your question, yes. PCI-E 3.0 GPUs are compatible with PCI-E 2.0 motherboards and processors.

That's so weird. If it was the only instance I'd go all out on claiming a typo but Google gives loads of product pages claiming the same. Well, in any case, you're fine.

Hotpeppa1 reacted to givegomezthegun in Best Price To Performance GPU for $200 CAD?
If you can find a 950 for that range.. they go on sale sometimes around that. Otherwise if you feel like going the used route I quite frequently see 680's or 770's go for around $200 CAD
