You could probably use adb or fastboot to push files to the device, but I'm not entirely sure?

The OS does NOT just offer faster booting. The support for programs hasn't actually been that bad. Most applications which were able to be run on Windows 7 can run on 8/8.1.
 
You don't need to use the Windows Store. There's no requirement to use it, just like the Mac App Store. Plus, a Hacktintosh is actually illegal as it violates the EULA. You can still multitask Modern Apps.
 
It's not just about the faster shut down. Firstly, faster shut down is useful for laptops as it means if you need to take it somewhere, you can safely ensure that the computer has switched off completely and isn't going to suddenly turn on when it's in the car or something. The faster shut down is also there to let the computer start up quicker.
 
I've never had a problem with any of those. I know some have with mouse problems in games and network problems but the majority of users haven't had a problem either. Please elaborate on "all sorts of crap".

As I said before, I have found that Windows 8/8.1 has run much better than 7.
 
As I said before, it is not a "slower windows 7 with problems and a faster boot". It is much more than that. Obviously people do want it because otherwise it would not have sales. Yes some of the sales would be from non-tech savvy consumers however many very tech savvy people have switched and have not had a problem with it. That last statement as quoted is simply not true.
People need to learn to adapt and change. This is the same with everyone who starts complaining when something like Facebook, Twitter or YouTube change. There's suddenly an uproar when in fact many of the changes are good. When people start using it, they begin to learn the features and can see the good points about change. This goes for anything. Change can be good. Change is not always bad. It is bad to be resistant to change.

In what way? If you don't want to use the Modern apps then don't use them. Desktop multitasking hasn't changed.
 
Shutting down/restarting your computer actually results in better performance as you are refreshing the whole computer. This is why restarting the computer will often fix problems.
 
I'm finding a performance boost on a 2006 computer when I switched from 7 to 8.1. People also complained about the battery life even more when they were running 7, which is one of the reasons why you didn't find many tablets running Windows 7.
 
Then don't use it. It's like anything, you don't need to use ALL of the features that are there. It's extremely unobtrusive. Not sure what you're talking about with the Tom's Hardware thing. Not sure now DirectX is related at all.

These "issues" can be very easily fixed.

Windows 8.1, if you're not deathly afraid of change. If you still hate the new stuff, get a third-party start menu.

You could all do Codecademy lessons together? Or you could even go through some stuff from actual courses.

Sublime, I suppose. But if you're doing Java, you'd probably want to use an IDE like Eclipse or IntelliJ, not a text editor?

So in light of Twitter's recent announcement of a redesign, I thought I'd share my personal project that I've been working on for a while.

 



 

It's called ReTwit, and it's a simple Chrome extension that essentially skins Twitter. I've been working on it in my spare time for about half a year now, and I've been slowly adding features like the ability to swap the columns (back to the original tweets on the left layout) or making the tweets column wider.

 

I just recently added in media previews for Instagram and Imgur content, and I'm working on a quote feature like in the mobile Twitter apps.

 

I'll be updating the extension once I get the official redesign.

I couldn't figure out why my phone wasn't responding for a while. I kept pulling the battery out, holding power, etc, etc. 
 
I realized after about 10 minutes that battery was dead.
