WereCat reacted to Needfuldoer in Any way to monitor RAM usage per DIMM/rank?
No. As far as the system's concerned, it's all one big pool. If you have two DIMMs it's not going to fill one up before starting the other, the data is split between them more or less evenly. (Analogous to a stripe or RAID 0 in non-volatile storage.)

RAM running in dual channel is going to be used as evenly as possible, otherwise you wouldn't have dual channel. The speed advantage is a result of splitting memory reads/writes across two or more sticks simultaneously, so each should contain roughly the same amount of data.

Either in the Digi Power Options or the Tweakers Paradise. Or you can just hit F9 and search for "Load" and it should find it.

That means dealing with Florida Man. The oranges are safe.

Orange is a common colour you’ll see inside backpacks because the brightness of it makes it easier to see the inside.

So they have a trim of orange colors and suddenly it's LTT imitation?
That's not what that is, that's them using colors is not copying LTT in the slightest.
If they tried to put LTT logos and stuff on there that's a completely different story but it's a black bag with a bit of orange accents. The inside isn't even completely orange.

The 86" LG Ultra Stretch Digital Signage Display has an aspect ratio of 58:9, making it relatively wider than just about any other display we've tried to game on. How well does it game? The answer is more interesting than you might think, and depends much more on how the game was made than when.

No. Efficiency's evolving all the time, it improves on all architectures, and at most there's a couple years' worth of difference between them. Pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
A 28W TDP 8840U Ryzen basically has the same computing performance as a 27W TDP M3 Pro.
Marketing people love to mislead by comparing things that are not in the same league though, it sells.

YT was trying to make me watch this video for a weeks and now that it's gone you show it in here... 😄
No, it does not. What I think kinda needs to die within the x86 are some of the legacy stuff but that may or may not affect backwards compabillity of some things and deciding which things should go may not be as straightforward.

WereCat reacted to lizziemc12 in VRAM is my amount good for popular games in 2024
So what your saying is I should keep going with what I have and then when it no longer works in my preferred games then upgrade to a card with at least 12 GB of VRAM or get more if I want to future proof it.
-
WereCat reacted to Eigenvektor in VRAM is my amount good for popular games in 2024
Depends on the game. Some crash, some load lower resolution textures, some may start to "swap" to RAM (which kills performance)
As long as the card works and you're happy with the performance you get, you're good. However, when looking for a replacement in the future, I'd not get anything with less than 12 GB.

WereCat reacted to Levent in VPNs are basically useless as confirmed through testing.
Clickbait title. Should have said "VPNs are basically useless for anonymity..."
VPNs are quite useful, just because you leak DNS doesnt mean you leak the entire traffic. Just because as example my home DNS leaked, doesnt mean my entire network is open to internet. I would still be suspect of MITM sure but you would need to try harder to leak data from my VPN.

WereCat reacted to ChitterCharmer in VPNs are basically useless as confirmed through testing.
Summary
In two related studies researchers have found a way to sidestep VPNs anonymizing features. One that targets everything but Android and releases all information to the hostile network. The other confirming a separate yet equally active bug in Android that leaks DNS information at specified, yet often situations.

My thoughts
I genuinely think that this has wide reaching implications for the tech industry at large. The Android Bug can be fixed more easily then the TunnelVision vulnerability. Which could lead a lot of security driven users to follow a protocol of connecting to their mobile device after making sure it is on fully, doing what they need to do, disconnecting their device, then disconnecting their phone. This leak and bug discovery affects security as a whole and I think it is interesting how LONG this vulnerability has been in the wild by researcher calculation.

WereCat got a reaction from Kuzoh in Need help with memory tuning on ryzen
This looks fine. Still quite loose timings but more than reasonable voltages at least.
I suggest you to stick with this for few days and see if you run into issues. If not then we can try to start tweaking the DRAM speed and timings.
