Nasty? Where do these comments come from? He just made a piece on issues of the channel, nothing seemed hateful or aimed to purposefully demean LMG. Nothing they said hasn't been obvious for a long while, the fact their videos are rushed and can often have issues as a result of that hasn't been news, it's also been an issue raised by a few employees in one of LMGs own videos, the main difference is that someone with influence is pointing out all this out.
 
Nonetheless, criticism, when taken well and actioned on, is beneficial regardless of who criticizes who.
 
Also this isn't a case of an accidental screw up, these have been consistent problems for quite a while and if you're a publication who aims to inform consumers, it's important you get things right instead of rushing them, what made this significantly worse was Linus's poor response alongside with the SA allegations.
 
If Linus or LMG would have done a simple, short apology (maybe not even that) and say/show what they're going to do to change from now on it would have never gotten to this point. They could have even thrown in some jokes and no one would have cared. But Linus started digging a grave with the piss poor response and doubling down. And now they're trying to get back out.
 
Also can you exemplify how GN has become nastier and nastier over the years? I don't watch every single piece of content they make but they don't seem like that at all. Maybe I'm mistaken.

1. GN had reasons for not contacting LMG, he has tried to contact LMG in the past over things they got wrong or things that needed to be addressed, Linus ignored them, so Steve understandably didn't want to contact them.
2. GN making a video didn't cause Linus to make an emotional response, that is Linus's problem.
3. If the reason LMG are getting consistent inaccuracies in their videos is because of restructuring, then they need to slow down on video production, restructuring in the company and still rushing out videos every day doesn't excuse the kind of errors they're making.
4. GN reported on things they've been getting wrong for a long time, people on the forum have been asking for LMG to improve for years now. There is no cancel culture here, the only ones I've been seeing trying to "cancel" anyone are the angry Linus fans trying to attack GN.
5. I've seen both of the GN videos, can you point out where GN admits they manipulated facts that were already public information in their videos?
6. GN contacting LMG wouldn't have made any difference as LMG decided to deflect away from admitting they messed up.
Those aren't facts, those are twisting things to attack GN, when GN was simply the messenger here.

Look, I am a massive fan of LTT and have been since ncix days years before lmg. Been watching almost all of his videos as they come out since 2009.
 
Don't make up shit and conspiracies to defend LMG. Fans have been complaining for the last couple of years about bad data making it into the videos. This humbling moment for them and the upcoming change in SOPs will only improve the quality of lmg videos going forward. 
 
GN is not some enemy here. Chill out. 
 
There is a large portion of their form who activly dislike lmg videos because of the inaccuracies. I don’t understand why they hang out here with those views, however, this is a way to bring them back in as viewers to build their trust back.

I agree, both need to provide accurate information, and I think its even more important for LMG to provide more accurate information because of the influence they have on the tech community.  LMG bringing up ethics as if they did nothing wrong and its somehow GN's fault seems disingenuous to me, and feels like they're punching down at GN and LMG as they're able to provide good data, Linus thinks he can just throw money at the issue of accurate information when money isn't the issue.  Also LMG trying to make themselves look good is probably to get fans to side with them as well, as people keep being hyper focused on GN not asking for contact even though they didn't have to, when GN hasn't done anything wrong here.
I find it ironic that GN needed to ask for contact, yet LMG had thrown shade at them twice and didn't ask for contact to discuss things first or even apologize for making those comments.
And if people are still mad at GN and think they did it for "drama" at this point there isn't any way to get them to understand the important part of the discussion which isn't whether or not GN asked first.

Nobody holds Linus accountable personally for the auctioning of the prototype. LMG is a large organization and he most likely had no idea that any of this was going on.
 
However, we definitely can and should hold him accountable for the way he reacted to the very valid criticism surrounding this entire issue. What, spending an extra 500 dollars (his words!) are too much to properly test a product because he thinks it's bad value anyway and so accurate numbers don't matter? He also apparently just can't get himself to admit that he and/or LMG made a mistake. Saying "yeah no we really don't need to address this and everything is already figured out with Billet Labs" when that is just factually incorrect doesn't really paint a good picture.
 
Linus is always big on pointing out how we should trust him (bro) because his credibility is the most important thing he has and that he would be stupid to risk it for money. However that is kind of what happened here, and instead of realizing his mistake and acting accordingly, he just doubled down on "I didn't do anything wrong!". That's the issue. And if Linus doesn't address this properly this one is going to hurt all of LMG.

wikipedia falls under this and so does this forum, so does whatsapp and telegram.
 
Besides it doesn't matter what any one person decides is social media, it matters what the government decides, since they are the enforcers.

I think the point is that  LTT videos do have a lot of click bait titles.  I don't think anyone can disagree with that.   I don't care if using clickbait helps or hurts their success or how they may compare to other content creators.  I simply do not like click bait titles, but that's just me.  It's kind of immature to use clickbait, but consider who we're talking about... Linus.  The problem with click bait, for me, is that I might skip a video if the title is too obscure or if I think it's not interesting based on the title.  
 
I've learned though that LTT videos are mostly interesting and entertaining even if I don't really understand the title from the outset.  But I would still prefer if the titles actually align more closely with the content.

Im not sure that I would call it a big win for the American people. Nor am I sure how I would discuss this topic without getting political in a way that breaks the forums rules.
This bill's entire existence was politically motivated based off an incorrect perception of bias.
Perception is reality, even if that perception does not match up to reality.

As far as I can see it, this bill, and now this ruling only empowers and institutionalizes the ability for groups or parties to Astroturf an idea.
Social media companies already dont do enough to put the brakes on the proliferation of disinformation campaigns, and to handicap them by law is a weird decision to me.

i can see your side aswell, i am originaly from Lithuania the 19th on the list you provided and now i live in united states 15th on the list. So my view of the world is really broad. The retorics the person was spouting about was very political based and that is why i went on him. Maybe i should of not called him a loser, that was uncalled for, but the first thing he did was try to derail the whole issue here and try to pin it to the governing, when its clearly the lack of that its even a thing. and if you are reading this and are like wth is he talking about, its ok. Sometimes it takes me few times to read my own thoughts to understand what i mean because im not really good at proper grammar.
