Tadas reacted to mr moose in Sennheiser HD419 vs. HD429 Go!
SNR is the difference between the mean signal potential and the noise potential. In other words its the differences between the voltage of the signal compared to the voltage of any noise present. It is represented in dB because it is a comparative measurement.
In relation to a headphone cable you do not need to worry about it, unless you are working on incredibly sensitive high frequency radio data transmitter thing, in which case you would not be asking about SNR on a net forum.

SNR is Signal to Noise Ratio. It's the clarity of the signal. A really low SNR means that you are getting closer to the amount of sound in the line vs the amount of "Noise" being generated. where the noise in the line can be whine, buzzing or anything like that.

Try it, if they spin up, all is well, if they don't spin up, it doesn't work and they only work at 7V, the only time you can damage them is if you put too much voltage in,

With the adapter, you wouldn't be able to adjust fan speeds, but it's your call.

Tadas reacted to brob in Please help! Script or virus on my pc.
You can try to use an online virus scanner, http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-ca/default.aspx, to identify the problem and potentially fix it. If nothing is found download and do a deep scan with a malware detection program like Malwarebytes. If that doesn't find anything, try another one like Spybot Search & Destroy. Do not use the system for anything else until the problem has been resolved. If nothing is found you'll need to create, on a clean machine, a boot CD with a virus scanner that can be run on one of the problem machines.
Once you have a clean system, immediately download and install anti-virus software. There are a number of free versions, AVG, Avast, MS Defender to name a few.
Once you've cleaned one machine, you can work on the other. Once they are clean you'll want to scan every USB storage device you have and also any CD/DVD you have burned on the infected machines.

The fan has built in rubber isolators so vibration isn't an issue, just go ahead and mount it.

Grand Prize Winner: Sonarctic11
Runner Up #1: Matt Stern Runner Up #2: pixelperv
GIVEAWAY ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO
MESSAGE FROM OUR SPONSOR (please read)
Stinky has created the Stinky Footboard to address a lack of solid gaming peripherals that look beyond adding more buttons to adding more simultaneous inputs. Having the ability to reload or crouch (assumes crouch bound to C) while strafing right is just one of the many things that the Footboard can do. It's also a great accessibility tool for computer users who might find alternate input methods helpful such as amputees. Check out their holiday special page where you can get the Stinky Footboard for $99.99. It's a great gift idea:
