Or buy a bike or commute and spend the rest of the money on something thats actually enjoyable and doesn't need to be maintained, insured, gassed, and needs to be cleaned.

As for OP, well... you're pretty much set with what you have. Like what SSL said, set it to stereo. The surround thing is just, hardware-wise, impossible to implement on headphones since you can put maybe a million drivers per ear-cup, but it won't be a 1,000,000.surround anyways. Software-induced 7.1 is a bit of a dodgy thing that I can't really answer.

You're making a mistake if you order the M50x, especially for gaming.

Their X7 has a high noise floor compared to the O2. Well, to say the least, based on my hearing.

I know looks do tend to matter. Its like the plating on a cullinary dish. If its plated real nice, it could taste a bit subpar, but the plating will atleast convince them to take that first bite. That said, in-ears are in the ear. Not like anyone would notice unless it has a weird shell.

I think its been said over and over again that sensitivity matters over impedance because impedance doesn't tell the real story on how hard a pair of headphones is to drive.
