The headphone outputs on these cheapo speaker sets tend to be hit-and-miss, but mostly miss.

That said, your own ears are the best judge. Try it and use whichever you prefer.

Your build is very nice. As long as the cards don't throttle under heavy load I'd just accept the couple of degrees. Under 70 when gaming is good, and that's probably as heavy a load you are going to get without syntetic tests.

I am 99% sure it will not malfunction then. Used parts such as expensive video cars, and CPUs are meh, but inexpensive coolers such as this have no risk.

Because gaming at 100FPS with ULTRA settings and 4xMSAA at 2560x1440 on a 144hz Gsync monitor is the nirvana for someone who enjoy epic graphics.

Hit thumbs up if you' experienced this at least once in your life, or if you admit that it's very very cool.

    Thanks martward!

I was playing Fallout 4 last night and had it monitor the whole time. At 3440x1440 at max settings with 2x msaa I hit 71 on the top card as the highest temp over a few hours. Water temperature in the radiator got up 32C, and the CPU package temp didn't break 55C. I'm happy with that for air cooled SLI.

This was with a fairly quiet fan profile too. I could get a few degrees cooler overall with a more aggro fan profile, but honestly, I don't want to sacrifice how quiet this is at the moment. I have central air conditioning, and the unit is behind a door in the same room. The AC is louder when it kicks on than the PC is right now under full load. At idle the thing is almost silent, just a low hum.

I changed the orientation of my rad fans to exhaust air out the top. MY desktop sits under my desk,  I have a feeling it was pulling in hot air that was trapped under the table. I also cleaned my radiator and made sure the water block was on TIGHT. Now under prime95 i hit 70 under load.

I have to agree, I've dealt with corsair customer service twice and they resolved both issues same day.
I asked to buy a windowed side panel for one of their cases once and they sent me one at no charge, even after repeatedly offering to pay for the product or atleast shipping.
That kind of service goes a long way.

We all have them. And I'm of the mindset that if I spend that kind of money on a custom loop, I want it visible, not hidden. But, hiding the res and pump does offer a cleaner look. So both have advantages and your choice should be yours. Just don't forget the case lighting. mandatory to keep your PC master race license.

i had temp issues with Sli so I added that fan on the side  really helped !
even with a big case like mine full of fans I still couldn't keep them cool 83 and down clocking
but not anymore  too card sits at 70 degrees

I think I might be better off doing a full custom loop in a case specifically built for the purpose my first time out. Those nice new cases with tempered glass are looking pretty sweet.....

Funny you mention doom theme... So far that's what has been played most these past few weeks on this machine. I just insalled philips hue lighting in my office and desk, and created a custom "doom" profile.. Talk about ambiance! I should have loaded the game up for this shot, but oh well..

Awesome attitude, rock on. Yes, and 980ti's in SLI will smash 1440 at 60hz for quite some time.

Only concern I have is the lack od space for the reservoir and pump. You could make it work but those big custom PCBs on the Gigabytes will haunt you. now this is me talking, and I am not sane. But I smell the opportunity to do some custom case modding here. Put the reservoir outside the case, should be room for the pump next to the 24 pin on the motherboard. As it's your first time my suggestion is soft tubing, maybe a theme that lends itself to the black and red theme you have. Doom theme?

This is exactly what I just did with the 980ti. By the time the 1080 comes down the 1080ti will come out and I could just sell the 1080 and get a 1080ti.. If you continue to do this you will end up always waiting for the next card around the corner.

Gotta pick a time to commit to a build and not worry too much about whats next that will come out. I just did this during the previous generation. Of course I looked at the cost of a 1080 and selling my 980ti vs the cost of adding a second 980ti... 980ti in SLI still won out at the moment (got it for $400 off).

Now that I have both cards, I'm skipping the 1080/1080ti series (unless the 1080ti is a crazy upgrade over the standard 1080) and selling both 980ti's when the next gen comes out.

Honestly tho, with my 3440x1440 60hz monitor, dual 980ti in SLI will last me QUITE a while.. Especially with dx12 right on our doorstep.

Not sure now is the time to be installing blocks on 980ti's, not trying to be negative. You could sell the 980ti's and pick up a 1080 and a block for it, install the custom loop and go with 1080 SLI once the prices drop.
