Computer King got a reaction from Slayer3032 in Building Our Own CPU Water Block?!?
I built my own water cooler in high school using a vertical milling machine. (Non CNC) Similar design. The copper I used was a 2 pound bullion bar from Provident Metals. The back plate I cut out from plate aluminum. To seal it I used Permatex waterpump and thermostat RTV silocone. I have been using the block in my system for years now without any issues.

Here’s an idea, for extremely small "fins" (really grooves) these 9 thou thick cutoff wheels for a Dremel...
9 thou thick cutoff disks
One thing I saw about 5 years ago in the machine shop I worked in at the time was this.... We cut a piece of 1/4" round stock about 4" long, then drilled directly into the center of it on the lathe, not very far, maybe 1" We threaded this to fit a 6-32 screw. Then we took and mounted this 4" long cut off wheel mandrel we had just made into the chuck of the Bridgeport mill. We affixed a 1/64" thick cut off wheel for a Dremel to our mandrel using the 6-32 screw in the end. Next we mounted the piece we were cutting in a vise that held it perpendicular to the table. This meant that it was now in the correct orientation to have grooves cut into it by the cut off wheel. We cranked the drive on the Bridgeport as high as shed go and let'r eat. Obviously the RPM on the Bridgeport was wayyyyyy slower than a Dremel so things were painstakingly slow... It took quite a bit of finesse, but eventually we got a feel for the feed rate and such and were able to cut some fairly accurate and thin grooves into the piece.

Was looking at my screenshot folder and found this:

The famous cliff climbing horse from Skyrim.
Dragon Age Inquisition has one of those too, but it's not that agile.

Computer King got a reaction from vanished in Overclocking a reference 980 ti
The 980 ti is limited by its maximum power limit of 110%. This is still enough to get some reasonable overclocks, however, if you want to get the most out of your card you will have to flash a custom BIOS onto it. I would recommend this since you are planning to water cool the card and the performance increase can be significant, but that's up to you.
Instructions and modded bios can be found here:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1558645/official-nvidia-gtx-980-ti-owners-club#
Other overclocking results can give you an idea of what to expect:
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1865303
My watercooled 980 ti with EK Titan X waterblock:
121% power limit
1.281v
1520 mHz Core clock (+330)
7872 mHz Memory (+430) (still tweaking, can probably go higher)
~40 degrees max temp
From what I have observed from other people the 980 ti will usually not go much higher than 1500 mHz, even with higher power limits.

I think LTT is really underestimating how much this will fracture their community. There are basically going to be two separate communities eventually, with regards to conversations about their videos, making the non-Vessel subscribers feel ostracized and left out (even if that's not your intent, it will still have the same effect). Now whether they think this will have a notable effect on their bottom line is another story, but I really don't see this working out long term, especially since they're trying to do it with a service that has zero track record and questionable quality. I completely understand the decision to try something new given the recent Youtube changes but I'm very skeptical.

paywalls..
I would pay a monthly fee to watch your videos in regular time? (when they are released)
but this whole time we've been watching on release without paying a fee?
I... I.. I'm almost depressed, jesus.
I won't sit here and judge. that's not right. but people donate to your cause a lot. more than most YouTubers.
Patreon would of been nice, but not enough I'm assuming? this is your business.. and you are maximazing profits.
I'm such an idiot, idk what I expected..
my feels right now:

I don't like it, it's got that yucky tablety boutique feel, and it has like no channels. I signed up but doubt I'll use it for a long time. Also, it's also based in USA, so it'll have the same anti-creative DMCA pandering villainism as brutetube, so it doesn't really solve the biggest problem in the market.
Worked on Maxthon 4.4

First I wanted say that I have no problems with you guys enabling people to pay for early access to your videos. But as of now I see no reason to use vessel over YouTube. It looks to me like the "hd" videos on vessel are in 720p, that's a massive downgrade from the 4k and 1080p60 videos we have been getting on YouTube for awhile now. The interface of vessel could also use a lot of work, finding videos that I want to watch is much harder than on YouTube despite the fact that YouTube's interface isn't that good either. So I will not be using vessel over YouTube despite the free year and early access to videos until 4k is supported.

Does Vessel support 4k video? Just watching my first video on Vessel and it seems to be a pretty big quality drop from your guys' standard.
