It sounds like you could keep everything but your motherboard, case and probably power supply.  Find a new motherboard and use your existing cpu, still a viable option for gaming,

Equilibrium_FOOL reacted to reidoboss in [Poll] bitcoin: currency of the future?
Before I start, let me tell you that I am a big enthusiast of crypto. I love reading stuff about it and to learn more and more. I see many use cases for crypto. Also, this is my personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt.
So, in my opinion FIAT currency will be around for a long time. Why?
Even tough I think that the current system is eating many people alive and banks and corporates are becoming bigger and bigger, in order for this to change it would need a HUGE change of mentality from the masses. And when we talk about changing mentalities at this level, we also talk about education. Crypto is more commonly refferenced in younger populations. That's because we have access to information through Internet and the educational system which many years ago i) didn't exist or ii) wasn't accessible to everyone. Let's say that people under 40 or 45 nowadays can handle this type of change. There are millions of people over that age that  simply don't. And even some young people don't like the idea for different reasons. People are educated for decades/centuries that a currency is handled by an entity (bank) which you can rely and they take care of your money (lol).
So, one of my main arguments is : it will need to pass a couple of years until the majority of society accept that our system must be changed. EDUCATION is the keyword here.
My next argument is : even if it happened earlier, banks have been REALLY REALLY strong for centuries. They won't accept being cut out. They will be part of our system for many years to come. And by not accepting to be cut out it I'm talking about lobbying, media control, fear over the masses etc. I can see them being part of crypto tho or at least trying to be and I'm not sure how that could be against crypto's basic philosophies.
And my last argument, at this moment bitcoin doesn't seem to be a great crypto for asset transactions. It has some issues like scalability, miners sort of centralizing the network which many people dislike nowadays, charging fees and taking some time to verify transactions. They are working on it and I'm also really curious about it. There are and there will be other crypto currencies with alternative approaches so we don't even know if Bitcoin will even be the mainstream for assets. Perhaps your question would be better if it was : Can a crypto currency become the main currency? Jut a suggestion th
And by the way we don't know what will happen when Quantum comes in play. Security will be an issue everywhere so, who knows what the future holds for crypto
    Good lock on your project!

When I was shopping for displays I was considering buying a similar BenQ.  Better price, similar build quality, and similar screen.  The deciding factor for me was the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the Asus.  If it comes to the price then go for the BenQ, I cannot imagine that you will regret it.  1440p looks so nice.

I’m not sure if there is something wrong with your camera but I have experienced similar effects due to:
    1. cheap UV filters or any other filters you have in front
    2. some sort of condensation or oil residue on/inside lenses or sensor that may require cleaning

and they become more noticeable on longer exposure shots

There is a trick to have more than one subject in focus using wide aperture shallow dof.  There are several tricks but the simplest one is to have both subjects be aligned in the same plane.  A photo is a 2D slice of 3D space, so if you have two people standing, make one of them tilt their head or stretch their neck or lean in the direction of the camera to try and get both subjects aligned.  In a photo, it will not be noticeable that one person is not actually standing straight or that they have their neck oddly positioned, if you pose them properly.  Or instead of aiming the camera straight on at them, have them stand in a angle to the camera so that both subjects are in the same plane.  This is especially useful when you want to take a photo of a couple when one person is hugging the other person from behind and you don’t want the person in the back to have their chin on the front person’s shoulder.

Essentially, what I am saying is that it’s not impossible to put two or more subjects in the same plane.  It’s a matter of how you pose/position the subjects in relation to the camera.

I like it! I'm a sucker for long exposed stuff. Only thing I'd change is to rotate the picture slightly to make the high skyscraper straighter, unless it screws with the rest of the lines too much of course. Also just wondering, have you tried turning down the exposure a tad? Might make it look a bit more dramatic.

Why isn't the EXIF (image data:exposure, aperture, iso, lens) data required for photos?  I am interested to see what settings people are shooting on, and to see what editing was done.  On most other photography sites this is a requirement for a post.

Equilibrium_FOOL reacted to AkiraDaarkst in Where can I learn more about photography?
Don't waste your money on those courses.  There are tons of resources online if you know how to look.  And there are quite a few great books you can buy.

How interested are you in photography?  While using a phone camera for photography is doable, you are limited in terms of how much control you have over what you can achieve.  Yes, there are professionals who have produced fantastic photos using only a phone.  But they have years of experience as a photographer and have used various types of cameras before.

If you are truly interested in photography, get something like an entry level DSLR.  Brand new with a basic kit lens costs around $500, second hand (and likely a slightly older model) can be found for prices that vary from $250 - $400.

So ask yourself first, are you truly interested in photography?  You don't have to have the goal of becoming a professional, you can remain an amateur photographer and still be very passionate about the craft.

That is a good plan, however have you looked at some of the more compact mirrorless cameras?  I have seen some used for sale recently, this may be a better plan as they are smaller and lighter.
I bought a D750 last year, and I am still not convinced that it is the 'right' camera for me-bulky/heavy, obvious, and expensive.  If I were you, check some local used sites and look for some non-Nikon options.

To get what you want, you will need to spend more money.  A decent 1080p build with peripherals would cost about that-you want 4k capable with a 4k monitor.
My recommendation, hold off until you can spend around + - $2000.

Leaves a hundred for keyboard. If he wants a second monitor I could probably get some space for that by cutting on the CPU cooler and mobo.

Also, if your friend is willing you could get windows from kinguin.net instead for $30 or just use windows unactivated (you just have a watermark on the background and can't customize a few things). Though if they don't like the sketchiness or would like a full copy then they could pay the full $90.

Ok I'm in front of my computer now with some free time.

First of all, let me give my thoughts about the photo posted.  I would rate it a 7/10 at best, for reasons I will specify below.  But keep in mind they will be my personal viewpoints as I will compare them to works by other wedding and fashion photographers.  If the couple in the photo are happy with your photo, it should be good enough though I feel you are the kind of tog who likes to improve.  Here are the reasons why I think your photo has room for improvement.
The background is boring, though it does appear out of focus I think if you had gone for a lens with a wider aperture you can blur it out even more.  This will also be affected by the focal length of the lens, but with a long focal length the question becomes do you have enough space to move back away from the couple to fill the same frame?  Something like an 85mm 1.4 or 200-300mm 2.8. would be a lens I'd use. Additionally you could use a speedlight or strobe light, especially with high speed sync.  Further isolating the couple and the vehicle from the background.  You can also fake low key lighting with a strobe and high speed sync in overcast days. Having a flash unit or strobe light can also help you fake the golden hour or sunlight on an overcast day like this.  There are accessories called Gobos that you can purchase for mounting in front of flash units and strobes.  Or you can make your own. Which brings up another point, the shadows around the eyes of the couple.  When taking portraits, the first thing people tend to look at are the eyes of the subject(s).  You can try to fill them with light using a flash or strobe, or a reflector, or bring up the shadows around the eyes in post with an adjustment brush. Now, I'm fairly certain this is not the only photo you took of the couple, and I hope not the only one with the couple and car.  Like all event photographers (weddings being a special type of event), I'm sure you took a series of photos.  Some wide like this where you try to capture as much of the scene as possible and some closeups for a more intimate look.  But you didn't post any of them so I have no idea what your other photos look like.

You have a classic car as a prop.  If you have a wedding couple as subjects with a classic car like this, don't take just exterior shots where they stand and pose in front of the car.  Use the car as a prop or scene setting.  Take photos of them inside (I'm assuming this is their car).  Don't just make them stand as a couple and take photos similar to countless thousands of other similar photos.  Try to create something artistic looking.

Maybe a photo of them sitting together, being intimate in the backseat (I don't mean intimate in the R-rated way), with you taking the photo from the front seat.  Or photos of the couple staring out the back window of the car with you taking the photo from outside.  Maybe the couple in the front seats, you taking a photo of them from the back seat or from out the window.  Reflections of them through the rear view mirrors or side mirrors.

Also, photos of the couple looking at the camera are usually boring.  Make them look at each other in an intimate manner and take a photo that captures their shared feelings.  The photo you took to me looks more like a memento photo.  Capture something that makes them look at the photo and reminds them of their love for each other.

I'll leave you for now with some videos that will give you ideas for the next time.
An old video from one of my favorite wedding/fashion photographers.  You should also check his website.

Here's a video that shows what you can do with Gobos.

    https://petapixel.com/2017/03/07/4-lighting-principles-wish-id-known-started-photography/

Oh and another tip, if you're going to take outdoor photos on cold days, stock some hand warmers and perhaps a canteen of something warm to drink (coffee, cocoa, tea).  Your clients will be grateful.  Photographers don't just carry photography equipment in their kit bags.
