overclock fx 6300

Hi. I have an fx 6300, with my HD 7870. I would like to overclock it a little, but I will be using stock cooler. I would like to know whats the "normal" overclock in this situation, how far its possible to go. My Motherboard is M5A78L-M USB3, and I have 2x4 G 1600 Ram.

And sorry my englis is really bad.

I think here in Portugal 212 EVO costs about 33euros (somtething like 43 dolars). :(

I know that stock cooler its not good.. but its not possible to go just to 3.7, or 3.8, something like that..?

Would you want to overclock with stock cooler? My fx-8150 stock cooler was HOLYCRAP type of loud. I literally had to rush to nearest computer shop and get an aftermarket cooler. I couldnt play games with stock cooler that loud xD. You could do 3.7 3.8.... But is it worth it for the always loudness of the cooler? Your choice. If you do decidemtomdo it, get core temp and monitor your temperature. Anything below 80 celcius is very fine.

80 celcius..? I saw a lot of people on the internet saying that 65 is the max security temp for the 6300..

I decided to do an prime95 test, without overclocking anyting, to watchs my temps, and I have on full load 62º on the cores and 68º on the CPU, is this bad? :\

I guess I wont be able to overclok it...

FX-6300 already clocks up to 4.0GHz on turbo boost.  It's best to overclock the turbo that way your only have the extra power when you need it and not 24/7.

Summer build: I7-4770K @ 4.5GHz, 4x4GB (Alternative black/red) DDR3 1600MHz, HD 7970GHz Water blocked, XSPC res/pump combo, 2 dual 120MM radiators, Corsair 350D Case, Corsair AX860I 80+ Gold PSU, custom red individually sleeved cables, red tubing w/ silver/chrome compression fittings, 480GB Crucial M500 SSD, ASrock Z87 MATX professional board, and a Corsair Vengeance K60 keyboard.

You up the multiplier.  It should be set to x40 (maybe x20) and you up it by 1 at a time.

Bulldozer and Piledriver CPUS shouldnt run hotter than 63 at the CPU and 73 at the socket!

How do you measure the CPU vs the socket?

As dadidsd1990 said, use coretemp to monitor temps, it might be a little confusing, what you see on CPU in coretemp its the actual SOCKET TEMP. Then look for PACKAGE temps to check your actual CPU temp. Socket temp tends to be something around 10 degrees celcius higher than cpu temp.

I have followed this guide, and it clearly states the max cpu temps, voltages and also bios config on Asus boards, have a look, it might be helpfull

Im realy angry!
I already figured out what happened.
when I went to replace the cooler, I noticed that the CPU had two bent pins, so I went to a local to fix it, and to install the cooler.
They called me to say that they have to make some cuts because the case is not closed because of the cooler. And I obviously deduced that they were going to cut the case. What was my surprise when I saw that they cut the heat pipes of the cooler!

I suppose this is the cause of overheating, right?

oh my noooooooooo not the heat pipes. :( ... yeah that is the cause of your overheating. heat pipes contain a  liquid under a certain pressure which use heat from whatever is being cooled to evaporate and then  condense further up the pipe (i.e. by the cooler fins ) giving off the heat.

so u would need a new cooler and well it seems that the hyper 212 is not compatible with your case

(1) high frame rate (2) ultra graphics settings (3) cheap...>> choose only two<<...

if it's never been done then i'm probably tryna do it. (((((((Bass so low it HERTZ)))))))

I called them to complain and they tell me that these cuts did not affect the performance of the cooler, and even tried to give me a scientific explanation of how the cooler works -.-'http://support.coolermaster.com/attachments/token/unweqkfigjdze0p/?name=fotografia.JPG

I'm now trying to contact Cooler Master :\
