What can I do to improve my computer ?

Go to solution Solved by fboucher,

Hey everybody

So to informe you I finally managed to solve my problem.I tried to uninstall and reinstall everything but nothing worked.I eventually reinstall Windows and all other same programs ans I won like 50 FPS

Job done, it was Windows, I dont know why

Hello everybody,

So I built myself a good computer, here are some specs :

- Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z Motherboard

- Sapphire R9 390X 8G

- AMD FD9590

- Corsair Watercooling

- Samsung EVO 850 SSD

- Corsair RM850 power supply

- BenQ XL2411Z 144Hz monitor

- etc.

(no overclocking)

I don't have to complain but I think my computer should do better that what it is doing now.

I play games and most of all Dota 2. With all graphics setting to max, at 1080p, it can go to 50-60FPS, 70 if no unit on screen. I mean, if I only play like that I am OK with this, but if I want to stream or record a video while I am playing, FPS drops to 15-20.

I know that it is still AMD, Intel CPU should be better (even if I don't understand very well the difference), but still, I have a 4.7Ghz 8 core proccessor and a great GPU too !

I feel my PC can do better, or there is something I dont understand. I have the latest AMD drivers, I tried different settings but nothing works.

Do I have to overclock my CPU ? do I have to ugrade it ? buy an Intel one ? am I missing something ? or is it just normal ?

Thank you in advance.

Shadowplay on Nvidia GPUs solves that low fps while recording problem

Join the Appleitionist cause! See spoiler below for answers to common questions that shouldn't be common!

Spoiler

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

-snip-

Try to uninstall the the drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). When you open the program it will say that you need to go into safemode to uninstall the driver. After you uninstalled the driver, go back into normal mode and reinstall the drivers from the manufacturers website.

FX 9590? Don't want to say that its the cause of you problem but by itself, it already is a problem.

Either way, are you using that AMD recording app? Its AMD's version of 0fps loss recording.

No overheating at all, I am always at 50-60°C (no recording)

This one :http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00DGGW3MI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02

But why is it a problem ? does it have dysfonctions ? Can you explain me a bit more what do you mean ?

I use Open Broadcaster Software to record, didn't know AMD's version, I'll try it this evening. It is maybe a solution but I am a little sad that it cant go over 70FPS even without recording.

If i can find a solution I'll maybe try the reinstallation  with RaptorCandy solution, but I did try it (with an oher OS for other reasons...).

That is a really power hungry chip. It doesn't have any dysfunction. It works but it isn't good. In games where single core performance is important, this cpu will struggle. And that's not nice considering the amount of power it uses.

OBS should have a plugin for AMD. Though, I don't use it and don't know much about it.

Not going over 70fps sounds like it the gpu is bottlenecked by the cpu. What is your GPU usage like? And what games are you talking about?

All the numbers I say here are while playing Dota 2. When I said "not over 70FPS" (no recording) I meant in general, I did see some 80 or 90 FPS if I don't move my character and nothing else, or if I set down game graphics.

What did you mean by GPU usage ? I use it with all normal stuff, nothing fancy, just playing games, display my screen when I browse the web. There is no other things that use my GPU when I play than the actual game.
