Mechanical VS Membrane Keyboards

I was wondering the difference between mechanical and membrane.

Which is better.

Which one should I buy.

Which one feels better.

Mechanical keyboards are generally more comfortable and more accurate. However, membrane keyboards allow you to type faster if you're a fast typist (~100 WPM) and some people (such as I) might prefer membrane keyboards for their short travel, the instant actuation point, and flatter keys. Mechanical keyboards, on the other hand, have an actuation point about halfway between the top of the key and the bottom, and it's harder to slide from one key to the next.

And keep in mind that if you type a lot, mechanical keyboards will maintain a crisp actuation point for about 50 million keystrokes - 10x to 50x longer than membrane keyboards, which tend to soften after 1 million to 5 million keystrokes.

Mechanical has multiple different types of switches that have different feel to each.  Certain ones require less force, some more.  Some have an audible click and some have actuation points you can feel.  Mechanical is much preferred in the PC gaming world.

Membrane keyboards have a silicone "membrane" that lies over the switches.  This gives key presses a mushy feeling and a slow keypress.  While these are much less expensive than their mechanical counterparts, they don't feel nearly as nice as typing on a mechanical keyboard.

On Topic: I'd say Mechanical but it depends on what you want, keys that take a bit more force to press vs ones that are easier.  Clicky keys or not? @Spencer1559

Love the clicky keys.

I guess a MX Brown (Lighter Key) / MX Blue (If you want a heavier key) would be the best 2 options then or even Black keys for an allrounder

Haha okay I will think about it.

Your typing speed is about average, not fast enough for membrane keyboards to boost your speed. It looks like you'll type more quickly on a mechanical keyboard.

Go mechanical.

I don't have experience with Cherry Reds or Browns, though, so I don't have any switch suggestions.
