the mark 2 is basicly a cheaper version, without the armor.

that doesnt answer my question theyre both similar boards without the armour but one has usb 3.1 and i read a review about the pwm fan headers on them not being true pwm on the 3.1 usb version.

well, i dont know about that.

 

i have the mark 2, and i'm very happy with it.

 

i know i can manually switch the fan headers betwee PWM and voltage regulated, maybe thats where the thing comes from.

how has the mark 2 held up for you?

it does its job, in the same way the intel motherboard in my old rig did.

 

a motherboard doesnt really impact performance, its just the platform providing an interconnect between your vareous parts.

that said, its very pleasant to use, the bios has lots of options (to the point of confusion... i'm used to the old blue & grey bios..)

 

the design.. is something you either love or hate. its kind of a "colors that manage to stay out of any color scheme"

 

i really like what they did with the front headers, providing both straight and angled connector for usb3.0, plenty of usb 2.0 headers, etc.)

 

the rear IO is very basic, but has everything you need. plenty of USB 2.0, and usb 3.0. you can hook up multiple headphones if you want to, or a 7.1 surround sound system.

optical out is something a lot of people like as well.

 

its the only "high end" board i've ever worked with, but it generally feels very sturdy and well built, no wiggly components, no dodgy solder joints etc.

the mark 1 is kinda just... an aesthetic thing.

 

its when you have enough cash to spend you can get something nicer.

i do want the mark 1 but money.....

thats what im after a workhorse basicly cuz my msi gaming 7 is starting to shit on me right now and im just like eh....screw it im gonna go with asus.

well, asus is very proud with their "gold standard" very high quality stuff, all really well worked out.

 

but you end up paying for that.

thats what im after i wanna pay for quality not some hyped up pipe dream so to speak.

just get the mark 2... mark 1 is only for looks in my opinion..

plan on it so the mark 2 usb 3.1 is the same exact thing except with usb 3.1?
