Which fan(s) is right for my radiator + case?

Go to solution Solved by Senzelian,

I'm currently wanting to get new fans for my case and I've been looking into Noctua fans since I've heard that they're pretty good.

I'm not sure which one to choose though, I have a 980Ti Hybrid and a H100i. I know that there are fans that do better at cooling with

radiators than others. So I guess I'm gonna be looking into buying two different types of fans, three for the radiators and the other two

for the front part of the case. I have the Corsair Graphite 780T if that helps by any chance.

I saw that the Noctua NF-F12 is a good radiator fan and the NF-P12 is good for more ventilation or whatnot. But still don't know which

fans I should buy, idk if I should be buying Noctua fans as a matter a fact.

If the NF-F12 is the one that I should buy then I would like to know what the difference is between these two fans. Thanks.

Yes, Noctua NF-F12 are great fans for radiators.

The difference between the two fans is that the iPPC fan is a industrial fan. It runs at a much higher speed and is also louder at that. But therefor it performs better. What you can do tho, is to turn down the speed manually in your motherboard BIOS.

The NF-P12 are just a cheaper version of the F12s. They don't have the rubber thingys at the corners.

Oh alright, thanks. So you think I should just buy the NF-F12s then for the whole case? Seeing as how the NF-P12 is just a cheaper replica.

Yeah, you could do that.

There are also the NF-A12s which are specificly made for higher airflow, but it wouldn't really matter.

I would even go so far and replace all fans with beQuiet Silent Wings 2, because they simply look a lot better, but that is a matter of taste.  ;)

noctua are like really really good fans but there not the only really really good fans out there...the thermaltake Riing series are really good and are A LOT better looking, and the Corsair SP series are very good too... both those fans are high static pressure fans for rads

P12's aren't cheaper versions or replicas of F12's. P12's are quieter than F12's and are more balanced SP/AF instead of being mostly SP oriented.

For fan recommendations, it would help to mention the case being used.

NF-A12's aren't out yet. You're thinking of NF-S12A's and they're notably quieter than F12's.

SW2's are better than NF-F12's in all areas but SP. Unless the fan is being used for a rad, SW2's are better than NF-F12's.

These fans are easily worse than any of the other fans aforementioned in this thread.

They are only quieter because they run 300RPM slower. They don't have rubber vibration dempeners and their arflow is almost the same for sacraficing quite a lot of air pressure. Apart from that they cost less.

Looks to me like a cheaper version.

Yes, I was thinking about the NF-S12A.

I wouldn't say they are worse, because they're so quiet and they move quiet a lot of air and apperantly the air pressure isn't that bad either, so they should be quite nice as a case fan.

They're not quieter due to just the rpm. The NF-P12 has a smoother sound for the performance and is quieter shown in tests and from my first-hand experience with them.

NF-P12's don't have rubber corners because they are older.

They don't get as quiet as any of the other fans mentioned and have worse performance/airflow. Other than a different aesthetic, the only advantage they have is a lower price.
