Moto 360: Re-do.

Untouchable

Hi everyone!

I previously did a review on the Moto 360, but many complained it was too short and didn't go into enough detail. So I'm re-doing it.

Build Quality

The Moto 360 from Motorola has incredible build quality.

The metal band around the screen feels solid and looks great, it reflects light and things around it making it look fantastic in good lighting circumstances and good in bad lighting circumstances. The small "crown" on the right side of the band feels like a cheaper sort of metal and looks that way too. (I have the silver variation of the Moto 360.)

The leather band that actually straps on to your wrist feels... I suppose cheap in a way. I've had my 360 for about 6 months now and the band has been dis-colored and worn out, and somewhat falling apart. As i'm only 13 my wrist is changing shape still, but for a long period i had the band set on the 5th hole, now that my wrist and grown bigger and fatter; it seems that the band insists on me going to the 5th hole instead of the 6th. Which really bothers me.

The stainless steel clasp on the band hasn't scratched or dis-colored despite having been rubbed up against things a bunch and getting scratched on walls multiple times.

Usability

The watch itself is extremely useful and very easy to use.

Whenever i'm in school and i get a notification or a text or a call, i can just take a quick glance at my watch to check it out and if necessary, answer.

The fitness aspect of the Moto 360 is also an extremely useful tool. I can set my step goal or a heart activity goal for the week, day, or month.

One problem many people have with the Moto 360 is the small black bar at the bottom of the watch face (see picture below), i personally dont mind it. After using the watch for a long period of time you begin to just not notice it. Can't really think of much else, so lets move on  :P

Screen

The 1.5 inch LCD screen is a major upgrade from my previous E-paper display on the Pebble.

The 320 x 290 screen doesn't bother me, you can rarely see pixels unless you look really close, but for normal use and just glancing at it you dont notice any of the individual pixels.

The Gorilla Glass 3 on the screen protects the watch fairly well, I've rubbed my screen against a wall (not intentionally of course) and the screen hasn't scratched from that or any other incident I've had with scratching or scraping. I generally try to be careful not to scratch the screen or the band around the screen, but sometimes it does happen.

Scoring

Looks and Aesthetics 9/10

I only marked this down a point because the silver band around the screen scratches easily and the band is dis-colored from only a few months of use.

Build Quality 8/10

The stainless steel construction feels and looks solid. The only problem i have is the "crown" on the side which feels and looks like a cheaper version of the main metal on both the band around the screen and the leather band that goes around your wrist.

Screen 10/10

The screen is fantastic and i have no problems or concerns with it. :)

Usability 8/10

The battery life on the Moto 360 is the only thing that bothers me, coming from my Pebble that usually lasted 3-4 days, it's somewhat hard to charge my watch every night instead of wearing it through the night and into the next day.

Overall Score 35/40

If you're looking for a great smartwatch, I give a hardy recommendation for the Moto 360.

(Sorry for the lack of photos, im ordering a SD card reader right now for my camera.)

Thanks everyone!

I have one. Loving the leather band so far but after 2 months it already seems to be wearing down, might break down and get a metal one for the future.
