Windows 10 horror story

Since i first got windows 10, ive been seeing some wierd, unexplainable things... background processes suddenly dissapearing without me even knowing.. foreground processes closing when i refused to close down shadowplay, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ABOUT 3 GB of RAM TO SPARE. (with a total of 8 GB ram)

 

But, the worse just happened to yesterday, when windows asked me to close down shadowplay in the background, (which is set to max 1 GB RAM) and i said yes... the consequenses that followed where most frightening.. All of the sudden google chrome crashed, and then, like that wasnt bad enought.. steam was closed in the background... WITH A STEAM GAME ON IN THE BACKGROUND! the game panicked and told me to use CPR on steam, but it was too late, the copy protection had already seen what had happened and quickly put the game on closedown, and my savefile didnt get updated with my progress..

 

This is truly a frightening world we are living in, who knows what windows 10 is closing in the background, maybe hamachi when you and your friends are playing a lan game, or even worse, bonzibuddy who is living in the background

 

we have to stop this, somehow

i would rather have applications closing in the background than having to move my entire computer back and forward

but maybe in the future...

Ever since I first got Windows 10, it refused to open any application that required administrator rights, it'd just give me an "IO Error".

Ever since I've been trying to reach Microsoft, however all I was getting was terrible wait times, and their automated phone service crashing on me.

 

Then, after being fed up trying to fix it for hours, I reverted back to Windows 7, where the most frightening thing happened.

My registry corrupted in the process of rolling back the Windows 10 update, which made it stuck in a boot-loop.

So, the semi-tech-savvy person I am, I assumed it had damaged the MBR (master boot record), I tried fixing in with all the power I had at hand, but nothing helped.

 

After thinking for hours I figured that the registry might be broken, so as the last shot in the dark I was willing to do, I used the automatically backed up registry to restore Windows 7.

It worked, and I hope I'll never have to experience such a horror again.

 

 

This is, as well, a true story.

(The moral of this story is, stick to Windows 7/8[.1] until Microsoft's got their.. bazongas.. together)

Every computer I've come in contact with that had Windows 10 is running just as fine as (or better than) when they were running 8.1 or 7. The two stories in this thread appear to be isolated incidents and the affected people should just call up Microsoft support and get some help.

no, that is not the case, by not doing a clean install, 2/3 of my windows computers (the two affected being windows 7) have some sort of problem

 

my second computer crashes when i launch some applications, like AOE 3, which works fine with my other PCs

 

There is definitely a problem with not doing a clean install from 7 to 10

some games that shouldnt matter

NONE of the drivers are the same

classic shell?

 

none of this should make the computers go wierd, one of the computers has a dedicated nvidia graphic card, and the other that crashes sometimes has an intel APU

My issues is Nvidia driver crashes and some random blue screes on my laptop but my Desktop does flawless...

nope, i have it set on auto, although i will try to use the formula that lifehacker reccomends (your pagefile needs to be 1.5 to 2x your physical RAM) and see if it makes a difference
