Sleep mode

I usually turn off my  computer when I wont be using it for a while.

The thing I question is putting a custom watercooled PC in sleep mode safe?

When I put it in sleep mode, the pump stops and the cpu isn't going to get water ran through it's block (same for the gpu)

Is this a bad thing to do?

I put my computer to sleep mode a little while ago and after 30 secconds the lights turned on and ran the pump for about 10 secconds and then turned off again.

After i saw this I quickly took my computer out of sleep to make sure there wasn't going to be any component damage.

Your GPU & CPU should have basically ZERO TDP when in sleep mode, I wouldn't worry about it.

No, because in sleep mode, your components "shut off" to save power. The water sitting in the block would be enough to keep it cool for months on end if it were to stay in sleep for that long.

Yes, because when in sleep mode only the RAM remains powered.
