Windows 10 files delete if you try to run the setup.exe?

The title says it all. i found where Windows 10 downloaded itself to, and jokingly ran the setup.exe to see if it would work, it fail (missing boot.wim error) and now when i go back it only has a "sources" folder with a setupprep.exe and a couple other files...what happened?

I did the same thing, boot.wim issue but i still got the files.

well, i ran the setupprep.exe afterwards, possibly that, but now windows update is saying updates are failing that i didn't start...and i can't call tech support :P

I just went to Windows Update and saw i could upgrade. And i just reserved yesterday. Windows 8.1 Pro Retail copy here.

boot.wim only got downloaded once the clock ticked over and it was the 29th

i've had the files for a few days, i kept checking for updates, no bueno. but the upgrade is hardware compatibility based, not reserve date

the folder with all the files is 10mb, it was 6GB...so it did delete it all

I tried running the setup and nothing got deleted. You sure you're looking at the right folder?

I'm amused how many people have problems upgrading.

According to my flatmates my install went through flawlessly and now it's just sitting there waiting for me to get home from work and enter my PIN/Password. Huzzah!

i've already got it on my laptop from the tester builds, had issues with my desktop (eternal log in screen) so i reinstalled 8.1 the other day :P
