Is this a good laptop?

Janezzz

My situations is that I want a laptop to watch videos, movies, play music and play the same AAA Games I play on my main gaming tower (of course at reduced settings). The laptop I have at the moment is very slow, overheats when doing some really easy tasks and a lot of other problems.

Is this laptop good for these tasks?

2x4 GB of DDR3 RAM @ 1600 Mhz

Nvidia Geforce GT 940m (Maxwell) with 2 GB of DDR3 Memory

17.3" 1600x900 Display

1 TB Hard disk @ 7200 RPM

USB 3.0, DVD Reader

CPU: Intel Core i5 4460 3.2 Ghz \\ Motherboard: MSI H97 PC MATE ATX \\ RAM: Corsair 2x4 GB 1600 Mhz \\ GPU: Asus Strix GTX 970 4 GB DDR5 \\ Storage: WD Caviar Blue 1 TB, 7200 RPM and an external WD Elements 1 TB HDD \\ PSU: Corsair VS650W \\ Case: Cooler Master K350 \\ Optical drive: Samsung R/W 24x \\ OS: Windows 10 64-bit \\ Keyboard/Mouse: Both DELL \\ Display: Samsung 28-inch TV 1080p 60 Hz \\ Phone: Samsung Galaxy S5 Electric Blue 16 GB

Should be fine for most tasks, GPU is very week for gaming, will be lowest settings at low resolutions for AAA games

what does this laptop cost?

I would suggest an 860m/960m for gaming

The 940 might have some troubles, and the unusually screen resolution.... Is unusual. How much is the laptop? What model is it preferably?

"I would say for a 17 inch screen, go with 1920 x 1080. But for a 15 inch screen go with 1600 x 900.

Sure 1920 looks better than 1600, but your games are going to have much less frames per second as well."

Wanted Build: i5 4690K, Z97-A, Vengeance 16GB, Samsung 256GB SSD, 980TI, Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX

Keyboard: Blackwidow Chroma Mouse: G502 Headset: Skullcandy PLYR 2 Phone: Samsung S6 Edge Tablet: iPad 2
