Quick question about DBAN

pureGold
Go to solution Solved by FizzyFantom,

DBAN runs entirely in RAM as far as I know, so you should be alright to remove the DBAN media.

Quick erase will be fine to remove the data if you plan to reuse the drive (or disassemble it), but several passes is recommended (I go for upwards of 3, but the Guttman Wipe may be a little excessive).

Can I remove my bootable USB with DBAN after the wiping process begin?

Also, is the quick erase method enough to wipe all data from the drive?

First question: I'd assume so. You should be able to load the entire tool into RAM very easily.

Second question: Yes, it can erase all data but not irrecoverably.

Sig under construction.

I had a usb drive that had a read only section on it that wouldn't let me use it for a windows install stick... so it depends, but probably yes it will remove it all.

"PSU brands are meaningless, look up the OEM."
