Get the i3. All I have to say, people above me have the reasons.

As a Pentium owner, I say go for the i3.

This ^ lol. I'm a former Pentium AE owner, and all I can say about it is this: Its fun to overclock and for the price it performs well, but there are much better options out there and really its not that powerful of a processor(outside of light tasks and gaming, its worthless). My vote goes towards the i3 or i5 if you can.

Make sure you get a half decent Z97 motherboard as opposed to something like an H81 board. It's a good platform for upgrading later on down the road, and wouldn't require a motherboard change if you were to get an unlocked processor.

I really wouldn't want to overclock on an H81 board.
