Wounded turtle can return to the ocean thanks to a 3D-printed beak

TwistedDictator

Look, we know this sea turtle's prosthetic beak has a tragic backstory, but it sure makes the reptile look like it has a future as a badass pizza-loving mutant. According to 3D Printing Industry, Turkish animal rescuers found it almost lifeless at sea, after a boat propeller shaved off a huge part of its snout. It escaped the clutches of death thanks to those kind folks, but a turtle that has to be hand-fed can never survive back in the wild. That's why the organization contacted 3D printing service provider BTech Innovation, which took the turtle's CT scans to create a beak that would fit it perfectly.

he company recreated the reptile's upper and lower jaws through software, and it printed out the resulting design using medical-grade titanium. That beak has been surgically attached recently so the critter's still in recovery, but it's doing just fine, as you can see in the video below. Once it's done recovering, the rescuers plan to release back to the ocean to live a normal turtley life. We're happy for it -- we really are! -- but we're also kinda sad that it would probably never meet the tortoise with a 3D-printed shell.

It kind of amazing how they fixed up the turtle with titanium which was done by a 3D printer.

Here is the back story of the turtle:
He was just an ordinary turtle with a loving wife and kids but one day he was taking out the water trash and then suddenly 12 sea horses attacked him and he family, lucky for him he knew turtle-jujitsu which he mastered over 100 years and he whooped all 6 seahorses but while he was distracted the other 6 sea horses took hes family and left... Big Dave (thats his name) was destoryed, he didnt know what to do but try and get his family back. He got he 23 inc samurai sword, 12 ninja shooting stars and his best  GUCCI trainers. He used his turtle senses to track them down, running towards the factory where he senses them. Once there he could see hes family tied up and even more sea horse ninjas, around 20 of them with AK-47 but little did they know he used the shadows to his advantage. "bam" Wham" "kaboom" he takes them all down but then a boss arrived. He was the legendary in the streets, his street name was "little Memo" well known for going around the sea world. Left hes dad and started chillin with the sharks. Lil memo was pissed, and quickly sliced Dave with on his face which took off his beak...

To be continued....

Well this is certainly going to confuse the hell out of alien archeologists in a few hundred years, when they dig this up, after humanity has gone extinct.

That may happen, but a fossil takes very specific conditions to form.

Also, "a few hundred years"?, that's way too soon for humans to go extinct lol.

Us humans are animals as well :P.

The stars died for you to be here today.
