How did YOU improve in csgo?

I've been playing for the past yearish and put in 1000+ hours across by two accounts, but my main has never been able to get past mg2 (where I am now) and my secondary scout only account is locked at nova 3. But lately I have been in a huge slump. All of my shots are just... off. I seem to push at the worst time. Every time. I'm dying through smokes left and right. When I frag now I'm just instantly traded. I've been missing nades.Idk what happening. For about a week I've just been junk. I can't seem to stay consistent no matter how much I play.

How do you guys improve and get more consistent?

As for pure aim improving its bennefitial to play on HS only servers or any fast phased ones like DM so u are always ready to pop someones head off

If you play against better players and ranking up because of that, it's not always that good of a idea. Your letting yourself down by ranking up to a rank that your not prepared for and your letting other people in your team down too because you don't have the proper skill to be in that rank. Just my 2 cents.

I played 1.6 for 7 years on a competitive basis, and I assure you that you won't get far with that mindset.

yea i know what youre talking about , me too i was like 2nd,3rd when i started playing (bought csgo a week ago) i played with silvers and after about 4 games it put me into matches with novas 2,1,3 and now im about 4th,5th,3rd in my team , also it sucks when the other team has a 3 or more poeple playing toghether (same clan wahtever)

I'm not changing my sense. And my scout only account is to play with my lower ranked friends. since I don't want to smurf and be a dick.

There arent only Casual and Competetive games. There are community servers too.

Also if u play in casual amd your team is winning u can join the other team if possible and try to win it for them

hmm i dont know how i emrpoved , i was bad at my previous match, but now at the last match i played i was first in my team with 6 MVPs, idk lol just play

Well first you can't improve if you don't have a solid foundation. What I mean by that is make sure you can get a consistent FPS so you aren't affected constantly, you have a decent mouse & sensitivity that is high, but not too high so you can maintain control and aim properly.

 

I have a Logitech G502, I play at 600DPI and 3 Sensitivity in-game. This is low enough for me to aim at a distance consistently, but also allows me to look around quickly as well. Also mouse acceleration is turned off since that introduces too many variables to allow consistent play.

 

Next I use these Launch Options;

-novid -high -threads 4 -full -w 1280 -h 960 -freq 150 -refresh 150 -tickrate 128 -nojoy -noaafonts +exec autoexec.cfg

• "-novid" disables the intro movies/videos, this is preference
• "-high" sets the CPU prioritization to high so if you are multitasking CSGO won't be affected and instead the other programs will. This helps with consistent FPS.
• "-threads 4" sets 4 threads/cores for the game to use, there is an in-game option for "Multicore Rendering", but this is to make sure it happens
• "-full" this sets fullscreen, again this is to make sure it happens
• "-w 1280" and "-h 960" are my set in-game resolutions, I play in a 4:3 for the "stretched" effect and also for a more consistent FPS. Video explaining what I mean. This is all personal preference!
• "-freq 150" and "-refresh 150" are my artificial limits that I set for my FPS. Some people like playing at 300FPS due to mouse input lag, I enjoy ~145
• "-tickrate 128" is for LAN servers for testing/practicing, like the community recoil map linked above
• "-nojoy" disables gamepad/controller, I have a controller plugged in and this is to make sure that CSGO doesn't use it by some rare event
• "-noaafonts" disables the use of anti-aliased (smoother/cleaner) fonts, this is personal preference
• "+exec autoexec.cfg" makes the game use the commands that I have in my autoexec file in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg"

So now I'll post my autoexec command list, this list was copied from budi's(also thanks Budi for your list!), but adapted for my personal use;

 

There is A LOT in here, stuff from keybinds for buying, crosshair settings, viewmodel settings, mouse settings, misc items, radar, HUD,  audio, etc.

 

Also here is my "video.txt" settings;

 

These settings are just to be extra sure that my video settings are correct and will always be set to these when I start up CSGO. Again, these are mostly personal preference, but it has made a difference in my skill level.

 

It makes a difference to have a good foundation to start your skill building. There are tons of guides and videos on how to do these things, so if you haven't set your own exact settings, I'd recommend you do so now.

144 hz monitor, lower sensitivity, mouse accel off, raw input, bigger mouse pad, better mouse, and good computer.

 

after that, practice and reflect on your mistakes. no magic tricks other than what I just said.

I already have all my stuff set. 144hz monitor. Big mousepad. I'm always pegged at 300 fps. My exec is set to my view model preference and crosshair as well as a few nadethrow binds.

As for settings. I run 800 dpi and 2 in game sense. Which allows me to rotate 180 degrees+ from almost anywhere on my mouspad.

I can out aim my LEM and supreme buddies at times. And my reflexes are better than most (~200-220ms response time).

I just have issues with consistency. Ill bottom frag and whiff the easiest of shots one match then go cue up and carry my same group of friends while going Ham every round. Idk.

I admit that i u didn't ranks, i will say that playing higher ranks isn't always a good idea IF you are in comp match or something.
