CPU temps 100c?

I have a Lenovo G505s for light browsing and light gaming and my idle temps are at 100 degrees C.  The maximum it reached was 119 degrees C. Is that normal?

I would say that your sensor is not reading the temperature right.

No, its high. Could be dust in the vents or bad thermal paste.

 

Are the fans running high?

I dont know what CPU is in that but i'd assume that it would turn itself off once it reached about 110 degrees, if it is going to 119 then there is very possible permanent damage being done

That's weird. I don't know if the sensors are reading the right temperatures because my CPU package temp is 98 average right now.

If the laptop feels really hot, its dust. If its cool then its a bad sensor. (I've got 'bad' thermal paste in my laptop and its temps stay well under 80oC).

It's and AMD A10-5750M APU with a Radeon 8650G.

A bad sensor would still cause the PC to blue screen because it thinks it has reached that temp and shuts down to prevent damage from occurring.  If it isn't doing that I am not sure why.

 

What software are you using to read temperature?

It's cool and it says 90, then when i run the benchmark the exhaust gets really really really hot and it gets to around 105. I have no clue why.

That's odd. The GPU temps stay at 35.

Ok. I've had my laptop for a year and its doing perfectly fine. I don't know why that's happening. The fan is dead silent until i run a benchmark.

If you are using HWmonitor make sure you are looking at the core temps, ex. Core #0, Core #1, Core #2, and Core #3.  Those are the temps that you want to be watching.

I don't see any. The temps i see is for "Package" and the only thing that's there for Core #0 ,1 , 2, 3 is the clock speed.

Try downloading core temp or real temp.  Those will specifically display your core temps, which is important.  CPU temp in HWMonitor isn't really the proper value.  I'm not sure where that value comes from, but I know the two are not the same.

Try speccy for monitoring temps, or realtemp.

Even if the thermal paste was dried or barely there the temps wouldn't get that high.

It is a sensor fault otherwise how can the laptop be felt cool when then reported temps are 90c on CPU ?
