Good information on Networking and Server Hardware

Hi

I was wondering if there are any good resources I could read or watch to learn about networking and server hardware.

Also any resources on IT servicing would be good too as I was hoping linus may have done a video on these topic at some point but there isn't really one.

Thank you

P.S. I have googled this but I just get spammed with guides on how to plug a router in and switch it one, I do have decent IT and PC knowledge was hoping to expand this knowledge to servers and networking.

read any/all the CCNA (Cisco Certified Networking) books you can find.

buy an old server with virtulization tech, download ESXi, get a few old 24-port 3com switches, go nuts

Pluralsights offers courses that covers this stuff, not too sure but I would think Lynda.com would too.

For networking I would suggest reading "Computer Networking" by Andrew Tanenbaum, it's kind of /the/ book on networking (outside of brand related literature).

Microsoft also has a few sites where you can learn:

Check out Eli The Computer Guy.

Very watchable videos and has a lot of video 'tracks' that will help you learn the core concepts of a subject.

He covers both Networking and Server stuff (and a lot more too).
