Frankenstien (sorta) build not being nice to me.

BurgerBum

so, lets just get straight to it.

i have a core 2 quad q8200

MSI p35 platinum

8 gigs of whatever the hell this is memory. (yes, its tested. DDR2, both two gig kits are 800mhz, )

7870 GHZ edition from diamond multimedia, with a blower cooler.

stock intel. however its the older, taller one, with a copper slug inside.

ANTEC vp450.

everything fan wise spins up, moves a reasonable amount of air, and seems to be working, i just cant enter the BIOS

im going to try with only one kit of RAM at a time in a minute, but for now here is a video showing what my issue is also.

sorry for horrible video quality, my voice has been especially shit recently, i have no good microphone and my only camera is a 720p recording webcam. also i apologize for the video being horizontally flipped.

im still working out some issues with my camera software.

https://youtu.be/tSphhj9YyPw

it displays ^^^ that on the screen, says to press delete to enter BIOS and so i press delete and it doesnt work. tab to enter post? doesnt work. so i try mashing F2, F4, F8, F5, F10, F11, F12, delete, esc, tab, and enter just as its turning on, nothing happens.

tested with both sets of ram installed, only 1 stick of set A, two sticks of set A, one stick of set B, and two stick of set B. ram isnt the issue. (also tried all the different slots)

i hope to all hell i dont need to update a BIOS or something.........(because i cant. really... i dont have another CPU to use, i dont have the ability to boot or even enter bios at all....)

Do you have another keyboard you can try with it? I know some motherboards dont play nicely with high poling rate or newer keyboards in bios. since you are getting a picture on the screen, it's deffinitly not a no-post situation

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

Have you had the ability to test it without a GPU?

Pretty sure that CPU has iGPU

completely random question: have you tried turning num lock on and off, thats my usual way of finding if a system is locked up.

i had the same core2quad, but i never used it with a USB keyboard, so i cant tell if thats the issue. (the motherboard of mine ended up in death, so i traded some stuff for some things)

sidenote: i found a thing: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=241481

i guess you're gonna have to hunt for a PS2 keyboard, or one of the little adapters.

right before i put the CPU it one looked a little off but from all other angles everything seemed to be in place.

i hadnt done anything to it before i installed the CPU, and FreeGeek wont sell hardware thats fucked with.

i really want a model M so i can take the controller inside and all the wiring, make a custom housing, and have my 32% keyboard with those sexy buckling spring switches.
