How could I use my R9 290 and gt 740 at the same time?

yes. with the 740 as a physix processor, i think. (? do correct me)

 

Not not in sli/crossfire.

Yes, and I can't crossfire/SLI them because it's amd and nvidia

yep, thats about all you can do i think. I dont know about folding though, it may be able to use them both there.
