GTX 970 Asus vs MSI

From benchmarks I've seen they're both equally quiet but the MSi has better cooling for the VRAM and other components that aren't the GPU. So I'd recommend that.

idk, but i dont really see a diffrence, they both turn off their fans when not under heavy load and they both are good cards, i have the msi 960 purely because of the price diffrence (very small but still xD)

But in a red NZXT H440, which one would you go for?

I have the Strix and wish I had gone with the MSI. The Strix has this VERY annoying LED on it that CANNOT be turned off.

Intel i7 4790k | Corsair H110i GTX | MSI Z97S Krait | 16GB HyperX Fury | ASUS Strix GTX 970 | Samsung 850 EVO 120GB SSD | Seagate 1TB Hybrid SSHD | WD 3TB Green | Corsair TX750M |

Corsair Graphite 760t White | 3x AOC i2267Fwh 21.5 inch IPS Monitor 1080p | Corsair Raptor k50 RGB | Logitech G500 | Blue Snowball

Based on review and looks, I would go with MSI.

What you should get kind of depends on what you want and plan on doing with it.

Quiet: MSI or Asus but MSI is clocked higher and has more overclocking headroom than the Asus

Overclocking: Galaxy HOF or Gigabyte G1 if you can't get the Galaxy.

Highest Stock Clock: EVGA FTW+  This has the highest factory clock of all 970s AND turns off its fans at low loads just like the ASUS and MSI.  It is also all black so won't clash with your color scheme.

Fractal Design Define R5 | i7-4790k | Corsair H80 | Asus Z97-Pro WiFi | 2 x EVGA GTX 970 SSC+ | 16GB G.Skill Sniper@1866MHz | Samsung 840 Evo 256 GB | 1TB + 750GB drives | EVGA 750W G2 | 27" BenQ IPS 1440p@60Hz | Windows 10

The msi one has red accents that compliment the red of the H440 well.

They're both red and black, so I'd go with the better performing one which is the MSi.

Otherwise go with the one that's the cheapest.

You mean the illuminated logo thing?

The Strix has no illuminated Logo, hell no lights at all other than this tiny little LED right next to the 6-PIN power connector to say "Hello! Power connector attached correctly!" and nothing other than that. I have a Corsair Graphite 760t and the bloody thing drives me mad.

The MSI 960 also has an MSI that lights up, idk if you can disable it but to me it looks cool, its white so it fits everything :)

This isn't a logo or anything. It's a super bright LED next to the power connector just to tell you that you connected the power correctly and nothing else.

Intel i7 4790k | Corsair H110i GTX | MSI Z97S Krait | 16GB HyperX Fury | ASUS Strix GTX 970 | Samsung 850 EVO 120GB SSD | Seagate 1TB Hybrid SSHD | WD 3TB Green | Corsair TX750M |

At the time of this post, the Asus is going for 329$ and the MSI for 339$. Now, the MSI is superior, but only by a tiny little bit. Given the price difference, I wouldn't call it exactly worth it, but I wouldn't say that it's also a bad tradeoff.

If you are making a windowed build, get the one that best matches. If going for a completely new build, get the Asus Strix; you can go with a 430w PSU for single and 500w PSU for SLI, whereas you'll need 500/650w for the MSI (due to the extra 6-pin connector required). Last, if all you want is an upgrade, I guess the MSI is a better choice...

Acording to partpicker, there's no store selling the MSI version in UK. Where did you find it for sale?

I didn't 'find' it aha... All of the normal UK retailers sell it, Dabs, amazon, novatech, overclockers, etc....
