Dell U3415W (Ultra-Widescreen 21:9 Curved 34" Gaming-Monitor)

Kukielka

Here was my bleed on my 2nd 34UC87

Well that's not the worst i've seen but still not really that good.

What do you mean by "was my bleed ..." though? What monitor are you using now?

Also, does anyone know if the U3415W uses the same panel as the LG 34UC87/97? That'd suck and maybe the OP just got pretty lucky with his bleed.

Not even a smartphone? :o

But any pic is better than no pic. Main thing is to see how dark the picture is :P

No for sure the bleed could of been worse, but now after researching the difference i think it was ips glow either way it just became a distraction and a focal point when playing dark games which yeh isnt worth that price point. Ive had to resort back to my old 20" samsung syncmaster p2050, a £50 monitor that i had previously for say 6 years, i actually had 3 dell u2414hs monitors in eyefinity which was amazing for productivity but no so much for gaming i couldnt stand the stretching and now after using an ultrawide monitor i cant go back to anything else, its just the perfect sweet spot in my eyes.

What settings for brightness and contrast do you have on your screen?

Did you adjust it from default because of any bleeding evident as some people are experiencing?

Canadian Microsoft store has this monitor for 930$! I got another 10% off through their student store. Only paid 945$ CAD all in! I had the 34UM95 before this which was going for 1025 on amazon so I returned that in favor of the Dell and saved more than 200$ awesome deal! I hope this monitor is as good as everyone says it is.

Got this Dell U3415W three days ago, 745 euro is a steal for such product of perfection - agree with this review, simply the best monitor I had so far. Replacing a two monitor setup, 24" Philips and a LG.

My first Dell product. This Dell is in another class than the rest of the pack; as to stands, appearance, quality, product refinement, design, features, 3 years on-site warranty, 3 years pixel warranty - you name it.

Main reason I went for the Dell in the first place was the solid and versatile stand - didnt expect such a well made product, which is a big plus. Wonder why I didnt have a Dell long time ago instead of the flimsy monitors I had in the past.

Takes a few days to get used to, but definitely a huge improvement - programs I had to re-size and rearrange can now fit in on one screen, stretching across the bezels is no longer necessary - the automatic screen arrangement of windows etc - solves a lot of problems. The curve is a hit !

( PS: Try 2560x1080 setting )

Great review.. what did you pay for this?

Also, did dell just re-arrange the letters from the 34UM95 or whatever it is with extra numbers? lol.

The dell naming goes like this

U - indicates IPS panel (u is for ultrasharp)

34 - indicates 34" screen

15 - indicates year of release

W - indicates ultrawide

LG naming works something like this (probably maybe)

34 - indicates 34" screen

u - IDK, probably means ultrawide but I have no source for that

m - indicates flat panel, as opposed to c for curved

95 - indicates 1440p, vs 65 which is 1080p. Not sure how the numbers correspond to resolution but LG SUUUUCKS at naming

The reason they seem like similar names is beause they're using the same indicators, like ultrawide, ips, and 34 inch screen.

15 - indicates year of release

Actually I believe that number is the yr of announcement/on-sale+1. For example U3415W was officially announced back in Nov 2014, while the U3014 was announced back in Feb 2013, and the U2913WM was firstly revealed back in Sept 2012, in a press event in Japan, and on-sale on Nov 2012 in UK....

pls feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...

We'll see in a couple weeks how this monitor pans out, I just pulled the trigger on this purchase as well.  Really looking forward to it after selling my previous dual U3007's years ago and now getting back into the larger monitor realm again.
